The older I get and the more means I amass, the more I understand the virtue of charity. Here in the U.S., holidays are so commercial, and I find charity to be a great way to counteract that.

If the commercial nature of holidays is based around material gifts, then aim those gifts not only at those you love, but also to those in need. Instead of lusting after things for yourself, spend some reasonable amount on others, or better yet, make something or donate your effort and time.

Through choices and actions, one can not only subvert the ills of society, but even turn the tables on them!

Yeah the holidays are so crazy anymore across the world. We have to get back to enjoying each other and not the things. We only have the one life sadly.
