Part of my childhood was spent in Melbourne, my mother lived in an area of public housing where more than half the adults came to Australia as refugees.
Somalians and Vietnamese mostly that came here in seperate waves, bunch of Sudanese and South Americans that came more recently.
And a bunch of Australian born drug addicts and single mothers.
The government literally takes the worst of our society and puts them into the same neighbourhoods as refugees and migrants.
The Vietnamese and Somalians were well integrated into Australian society despite all the racism they face, the Sudanese youths that were first generation born in Australia were less integrated and therefore more likely to be petty criminals.
Their parents were all hard working and strict.
At about 6pm practically all my friends that were not white had to go home for dinner and weren't allowed back out.
While we would be out until 2am getting into trouble.
