Surveillance doesn’t need a camera when your own phone is screaming “here I am.” Once you recognize the pings, you’re no longer passive cargo in a tracking system. You’re the one deciding when and how you broadcast.

With this one can set rules, to automatically turn off Wifi, when it is disconnected. This means, one has the discomfort to always have to manually turn on the signals, when needed. But at least they are turned off, when not in use.
Faraday bag is the way. Good luck convincing people to fiddle with settings. But pay $10 for a Faraday bag and tell them they can't enter the protest without it, phone or no phone - that's something people can do.
