i was migrating with my first npub in october or so
all the bitcoin twits were talking about it and i thought it was some ghey thing and idk just went to check it out and eventually first with snort and iris and such and eventually found coracle
had a hiatus for a while but i didn't go back anywhere, i was on a social fast at the time... had some really difficult stuff going on and needed to focus (was on this island and suddenly discovered i had no money to go on with and sold everything and scratched together some work via nostr:npub10npj3gydmv40m70ehemmal6vsdyfl7tewgvz043g54p0x23y0s8qzztl5h who saved my ass
it wasn't hard to convince me to try, i was already hating twitter so bad, never wanted to be on twitter and spent a bit over a year on it because everywhere else i was shadowbanned and even suspended for disagreeing about certain things from the official narrative (vaccines, trans, woke etc)
twitter wasn't as bad but when i dug into some tools that examine your feed and how it propagates it was clear i was shadowbanned there too
i already started to hate this shit back in 2018 when facebook injected ads into my feed without any way to remove them and i'm like, yeah, free my ass, i'm the free input here i'm done, especially when it was drawn to my attention how facebook was narrowing my propagatation and making my feed boring, yeah, that was the thing that dang broke it, cos it was boring, and it never used to be like that
anyhow, this is where i am and i'm not going anywhere else ever, maybe to different clients but i refuse to use any other social network unless i'm paid to use it and only for work
I was purple pilled by a mention in a Bitcoin University video. That was more than 6mos ago. I've deleted all my social media, except for fb (only for communicating with family) and YouTube.
Honestly I came here because Jack came here due to #nostr being truly federated .. no king making.. no being banned for life because of “mean tweets” and no ramblings from Stephen King or other “celebrities”. I follow like minded people who I’m happy to agree and disagree with and the rest of the traffic just goes on without my having it shoved down my throat.
