I don’t think anyone followed me over from Twitter…
Since deleting facebook and not posting/using Twitter I definitely get more real interactions with people then before…

I was super sad deleting mine. I have no way to contact any of my friends from when I was a foreign exchange student. I didn't realize this until I was back in Europe for my honeymoon.

For sure. But like I was sad having to search for Italian lullabies instead of asking my host mom and being able to send her pics of my boys. There are many people with whom I made deep connections like that which I will likely never know how their life turned out. Another example is the Mexicans I taught to read when I lived in San Jose for a year would graduate high school this year, and I don't wonder how many of them graduated, I wonder how many even made it through high school alive.
I try not to think about it any time it comes up, because my hatred for Zuck brews to an unhealthy level such that I end up in tears if I dwell on it too long.

People on those social media are interested into the social media environment more than the single person. They love the dopamine from information flow. They can stay there.

It's similar to how people often report having deeper friendships from a small college or tight-knit community than from living in a massive city where they theoretically have access to millions of potential friends. Scale doesn't necessarily translate to meaningful connection.
