What to do in RIGA 🇱🇻
If you’re coming to Baltic Honeybadger and have some spare time, here are my recommendations. 🚆 🌊 🛥️
Part 3: Jūrmala - beach, park and promenade
Jūrmala is a town about 25 km from Riga and THE place to experience the Baltic Sea. You can get there by train, which leaves Riga’s main station every 30 minutes. One ride costs just €2.
The journey takes about half an hour. After getting off at Majori station, you’ll walk along a lovely promenade with plenty of cafés and restaurants (my favorite is Grill&Fish Jomas Terase).
If you're more into nature, jump off one stop earlier at Dzintari. From there, a beautiful forest park leads you straight to the sea.
The beach in Jūrmala is a great place to chill. You'll find beach bars, outdoor workout spot, volleyball courts, and more.
The water is a bit chilly and shallow, so you’ll need to walk tens of meters in before you can really swim - but it’s part of the fun.
🛥️ Tip: If you feel adventurous, take a boat from Riga to Jūrmala. The trip takes about 2 hours and costs €20. The river and its surroundings are full of big ass industrial machines you don’t see every day.
