Working on an ultra-minimal control plane for self-hosted / private networks:

#WireGuard for all data transport, #Nostr used only for encrypted coordination.

Nostr handles hub discovery, peer enrolment, revocation, and key rotation when a VPS disappears or is rebuilt... no DNS, no fixed endpoints, no single point of failure.

Single pinned authority pubkey, anti-rollback, atomic A/B hub cutover with verification before disengaging the old hub.

Result: private services stay private, access survives VPS failure, and the β€œcontrol plane” is more resilient than any single (or multi) VPS setup.

#homelab

On the same quest. Started using a $5/month VPS to act as a proxy for all my home server traffic to protect my public IP, then using Wireguard on top to let me access these services securely from anywhere from my laptop (Proxmox, Alby, BTC Nodes, Jellyfin, developer environments...)

Today's task is to get a regular backup of all my critical data going.

Pictures of monkeys aside I agree and they are useful for proving ownership of physical things that have embedded code such as a vehicle, allowing secure access control.

nostr:npub1pm5z0gmw3wcvl3yreuv8y7q3stz2zmzc4jar4ckhk927qdcwjwuq3txe07 what's the business model of free blossom servers like the default ones in Amethyst?

I visited from the UK last summer and was blown away by the consistency of food quality and the relative good value. Big bowl of ramen for about Β£5 was standard. Absolutely astounding.

HI does this relay from bitsat

It's not listed on my relays in Amethyst so I don't know how I'm doing that.

It also reposts message I boost, which I don't think is kind 1? Might be wrong there. Either way I haven't added it as a relay on this client.

Might be what nostr:npub1cn670f663n3ks02jnnlsvd5y88zjnefy8343ykaxs7y3nzzketrsrjwt8a suggests.

If I only have a link via the bitsatrelay satellite then it must be able to know I'm communicating with it directly, or if not, having an @ tag in the message to indicate that re-relaying it is requested.

It's cool tech but having over half my notifications be unrequested bitsatrelay events is ott.

If you can prevent if from rebroadcasts unless requested then it would help. I get notifications about messages I've sent that it's rebroadcast and it's duplicating messages inline to the chat.

Make it react to nostr:npub14uee3fwxjwq7m25gsyqguv2t6v8ft69jax4lvs3skfpa8u7thdsqpu7gam in messages to rebroadcast, for example, like the AI Calle had on here where you can ask it to reply to a question.

Probably room for some good old fashioned scamming, but at least your savings wouldn't inflate away and you could do proof of reserves.

I'd personally stick to self custody.

This is what nostr creates, a little more understanding between strangers

Ideally engrave metal, backup seeds on stainless type stuff, also cool signs on metal and plastic too (I imagine a laser strong enough for metal can be dialled down for plastic/wood/other?)
