So, I'm hella high, I smoke rarely, but fuck it, it's just that time of year. Anyway, I'm really high and surrounded by good company and I came up with a sick business idea. So, imagine a giant electronics store in a warehouse called Prepper's. Like Microcenter but the size of a Costco. And you start the warehouse surrounded by lots of land, and so it's a bit of a drive to get to Prepper's. And it's an enormous warehouse. But their thing is they stockpile electronics. And it's all built in an enormous faraday cage. And they sell faraday cages, and survival gear, too. But the electronics is a good start, since it's high margin, has a long shelf life, and might be really needed if the big one ever dropped, y'know? But so long as we're this side of midnight, might as well sell the stuff, too. It helps keep stock fresh. And maybe nearby people could build businesses that repair and recycle electronics. And after a while, maybe it gets so much traffic, you can do foodstuffs, too, so long as they had a very long shelf life, and stockpile and sell that too. And then firearms and equipment, too. And this is how you bootstrap the citadels, my friends. And it could help bootstrap the Bitcoin economy, too. Sats are always good money at Prepper's.

@nostr:npub1acg6thl5psv62405rljzkj8spesceyfz2c32udakc2ak0dmvfeyse9p35c I'm too lazy to read the codebase, plus it's 4/20, but I wanted to ask, when the Gossip client computes proof of work, does it compute work for all messages, including "likes", or just notes like this?

Agreed! She has all my respect. She's probably the smartest and wealthiest person I can relate to and watch / listen to / read on a regular basis.

You might be interested in RGB. They have a language called Contractum. It's still very early on, so we don't have good examples of swaps, which is what might be needed for such a thing. There are a lot of tools that might make sense to mix together, like MuSig2 (Taproot multisig), Lightning, miniscript HTLCs, etc. Ideally we'd have something like Sapio or OP_VAULT for what you want to do, but it's unclear if either of those will ever move forward, which require a soft fork. To get around that, things like RGB tokens that are redeemable for Bitcoin might be needed to build more complex contracts.

So, in RGB, UTXOs are used to anchor tokens, and so when you transfer a token, you need to provide a UTXO that has been obfuscated by the receiver using a blinding factor that only they know, and they will provide the blinding factor to the recipient should they ever choose to spend their own tokens. For the high-level workflow, I recommend reading this: https://github.com/LNP-BP/nodes/blob/master/contrib/demo-rgb.sh

No, it's all sorts of different languages. Damus is written in Swift, Amethyst in Kotlin, Iris and Snort are in TypeScript, Gossip is in Rust. There are also relays written in Rust, TypeScript, and C++. The only thing that really matters is the spec that ties all these different efforts into one, hence my somewhat snarky (but definitely serious) reply, English. The rest is just an implementation detail.

Awesome, congrats! Remember, you need to transfer to a blinded UTXO. We're almost done with the 0.10 migration on bitmask.app, btw!

Go fuck yourselves with a rake, scammers.

I'm a huge fan of relay aggregators like #[0]

They help the network scale, almost like an L2 for the Nostr protocol. I'm happy to provide value for the value that provide me. I'm able to reduce my relay count and extend my reach more effectively because of filter.nostr.wine.

💯

Though, arguably, patents were originally a way to expatriate tech from other countries so it can be built domestically. It was kind of like a form of open source, before that became an actual principled thing. People used to think kings were necessary too; sometimes societies just outgrow their power structures.

If something is valuable enough, monumental efforts will be made towards rectifying its flaws.

lol, yep, and it's called Boulder, Colorado 😹

Hi, yes, you, the Karen standing behind the obviously gay couple in the line at the local Whole Foods who gave me the "side eye" when I cracked the joke when we were carded for buying wine, "that's how they get ya, they'll come for the wine drinkers first", actually, yes, we don't trust the government, you know why, honey, do you really want to know why?

Biden won't be president forever.

You have a good night now.
