There were girls in Chicago that would try to start dumb rumors about me to bully me away from my favorite clubs and bars constantly. It’s just part of the whole true girlhood experience.
Maybe trans girls also have to understand another hard lesson. It is never easy being female. I have been brutally bullied by other of my kind and species many many many many times. It’s gut wrenching, but that’s why most of us end up keeping our inner circle somewhat small and become creatures of habit in our safe spaces.
And funny enough, I would never even contest being banned from a sub. I just think it’s bizarre.
When I was 13 I shot up to 5’ 4” and knew that even though I could do backflips on the balance beam and was somewhat talented, chances were I had no future as a serious gymnast. All the girlies at Brown’s Gym in Orlando that were going down that path had stayed under 5’ 2” during puberty. It would be great if an outlier proved this wrong or a new system at a different gym became protocol, but it was just what it was. So maybe a space that is centered around childbirth and uterine issues and for rape victims has a way of doing things. Go to another all women’s gym? Or maybe open one???
I hate that it might be upsetting that science is science and language is language and is classically nitpicked for very good reasons, but this is how it is. In the pre science age, the best a trans woman might hope for if not born intersex is to be a eunuch. I’m glad that science is able to make people more comfortable in their bodies and lives, but many things in the world are just run on straight nitpicky facts.
I get really confused by the rhetoric surrounding all of this. I wish all of the trans people (both male and female) in my life safety, wellness, happiness and prosperity. I just don’t understand the insistence on being added to every female space. I can’t imagine that if a trans only space was insisting on exclusivity that I would protest, especially if it was a space of safety to talk about or treat issues specifically they were facing, and to feel a sense of ease and calm. I’m also not saying that every space has to be exclusive.
I guess the other post regarding trans issues that showed up in my feed today didn’t strike their radar, but I also stand by it. I’m sure there are many female only spaces that might include trans women in their curriculum, but how in the world does someone having a different protocol especially in a world where ovulating and child birthing women are often neglected and abused mean they should be bullied?? I feel really terrible for this entrepreneur. It is ridiculous.
