Greetings Earthling. Former Nuclear Engineer Former software developer Homesteader/pilot

Let me rephrase the question:

Which would you rather have in 15 years?

1. 1 #bitcoin?

2. 5 acres of CPN2 agricultural land

3. 17 shares of the full S&P 500 index

4. 15 year maturity zero coupon US treasury notes with current value of 1 #btc

each of these things have a current value of about one bitcoin. in 15 years I can tell you 1 bitcoin =1 bitcoin the other three will be different.

The proof is in the pudding.

Think to yourself what will some asset be worth 15 years from now would you rather own $10,000 of bitcoin $10,000 of the S&P 500 $10,000 in an interest bearing savings account or have $10,000 of vacant land somewhere?

#bitcoinstr #remind20400101

#remind20300101

#BTC #HODL

I’ve added a couple of reminders so we can reengage in this discussion in five and 15 years …

In the meantime, I’m gonna forget I hold any bitcoin and just enjoy life..

That is really cool because as the price of bitcoin šŸš€goes up, the number of addresses in each group will keep increasing. I like the different way of thinking about it. Everyone always thinks how many coins are in each wallet and then changes the scale of the number of coins as price goes up, but this is so much cleaner.

šŸ’Æ Well, that is a correct statement so the best we can do is try to pressure our lawmakers into preventing them from being too corrupt!

Thanks by the way, the live water/live spring or access to a large reservoir lake with mountain drainage or something of that nature adds easily $30,000 value to the property.

Those are really difficult to find and we chose to go the route of hiring heavy equipment to bulldoze out the lake . We’re budgeting around $10,000 for the bulldozing work.

But we’re going to be in at least $20,000 for a well and that’s if we can get water at 800 feet if we have to go down to 1000 feet or 1200 feet to water and case the well it’s just gonna be a lot more expensive .

The other thing I am planning to do is just walk away from my job and be 100% living off the land so what that means is that it’s a little bit of a standard start up/ burn rate problem where you’ve got so much money and when you run out you run out. So we have to prioritize the most important items the pond, the well, the solar panels and then scale everything back as budget allows.

couple of other pieces of advice are that Prairie grass areas or land and land with large oak trees are typically very good Land. Land with pinion Pines and other scrub evergreens are typically too rocky to really Homestead and I know some people that have done that and I’ve talked to him and they’re in a much bigger challenge than what I was up for, but the land is much cheaper

Let’s just leave it at ā€œSouth of the 37th parallelā€ and west of the Mississippi

But you are in the right area.

Bought a used camper, getting it fixed and ready for the spring….

Tasks

1 clear trees for a pasture

2 build cattle pond

3 build pole barn

4 build chicken coop

5 start garden

6 build cabin

Here is where I will be living while I build out the #homestead

I still can’t believe I am leaving the Wall Street life behind for the wilderness!

I will try not to. Just replying to your statement…

ā€œImagine how colossally stupid this will look a decade from now. But also, GFY, lettuce hands.ā€ - nostr:npub1clk6vc9xhjp8q5cws262wuf2eh4zuvwupft03hy4ttqqnm7e0jrq3upup9

Selling this bitcoin is not a mistake. It is the only reasonable thing that a fair and good government can do.

the Bitcoin strategic reserve the way it was written by Cynthia Lummis has a very perverse incentive for the government, and I’m smart enough to know that you cannot give the government perverse incentive.

The unintended consequences can be devastating.

I’ve had this debate numerous times with numerous people on #Nostur

Once they start to understand how this bill can allow the government to illegally seize your crypto from you people realize the bill has to be changed.

Any seized crypto, via ill gotten goods the department of Justice ATF or any other agency must be sold on the free market and never allowed to be entered into the strategic bitcoin reserve.

I literally just closed on that… well not quite I only get 12.5 acres but have the option for 17 more…

Will be leaving Chicago this spring and trying my hand at #homesteading

BTW mine does not have ā€œliveā€ water but a well should work…

We are thinking solar and Starlink fully off grid. Wood stove and propane cooking/water heater…

Unfortunately I am not a vpn expert and have not set one up for this stuff…

In fact the only vpn I have ever used is the pay for high speed vpn from proton.

If you reach out to them customer support has been world class…. But it may not be cost effective for all

Bitcoin heater

Bitcoin heaters are innovative devices that combine the functionality of a space heater with the capability to mine Bitcoin. These devices are designed to harness the heat generated from Bitcoin mining to warm living spaces, offering a dual-purpose solution that can potentially offset heating costs. Here are some notable Bitcoin heaters available in the market:

Antminer S9 Space Heater Edition: This device uses an Antminer S9 mining rig to generate heat. It features Noctua silent cooling, which reduces noise levels to around 45 dB, making it a quieter option compared to standard models. The Antminer S9 Space Heater Edition can heat up to 3412-4096 BTU/hr and is compatible with Home Assistant for smart home integration.

Antminer S17 Space Heater Edition: This model is an advanced version that uses the Antminer S17 mining rig. It offers a quieter operation with Noctua Redux 1700 RPM fans, reducing noise to around 40-50 dB. The Antminer S17 Space Heater Edition can heat up to 3412-4096 BTU/hr and is also compatible with Home Assistant.

Heatbit: Heatbit is a Bitcoin-mining heater that can warm up to 500 square feet. It operates at less than 42 dB noise, making it very quiet. Heatbit can mine up to 14 TH/s and consumes 1400 watts of power. It is designed to be energy-efficient and safe, meeting US and Canada heater safety standards.

BitChimney: BitChimney is a space heater that mines Bitcoin using a single Antminer hashboard. It is designed for low noise operation and is WiFi enabled for easy setup. BitChimney supports WiFi and can be controlled via an interactive web interface with LuxOS. It is built to be efficient and can be used in residential spaces.

21energy Bitcoin Heaters: These heaters are designed to be efficient and can save up to €3,800 per year in heating costs. They are CE-compliant and meet the highest safety standards. The 21energy Bitcoin Heaters can be integrated into smart homes and can be controlled via smartphone apps, allowing users to automate their use during low electricity price periods.

These devices offer a unique way to combine heating with Bitcoin mining, potentially providing financial returns while fulfilling a practical need. However, it’s important to consider factors such as electricity costs and the profitability of Bitcoin mining when deciding whether a Bitcoin heater is a worthwhile investment.

It’s the right thing to do.

In fact all seized bitcoin should be sold.

The only bitcoin that the US should put in its strategic reserve is bitcoin that it explicitly buys from the treasury .

If you don’t understand why you don’t understand perverse incentives .

If the government can just seize bitcoin and place it in its reserve, the government will seize all of our bitcoin and place it in its reserves .

The house bill for strategic bitcoin reserve is pure evil because it incentivizes the government to seize bitcoin from civilians, no different than how the Canadian truckers had Their assets seized read it carefully and understand perverse incentives.

Chicago river looking east

I had similar questions and thoughts.

congress will bail them and I will involuntarily donate via the 50% taxes I pay.

BTW I HAVE NO house INSURANCE, but paid cash for my wigwam and will build a new one if it burns down… without asking…

No doubt if my rural property burns the gov will give me the finger…

#FIRE live within your means!

This is something that needs to be addressed!

So I was adopting a dog years ago, and they said that dog can only go to a house with a school aged child.

I said why? They said it needs to get outside and run and play.

I said school age kids take Prozac / Adderall and other medications then sit in front of a computer or smartphone all day. Stay up till 1:00 am doing busy work or watching youtube videos for class because teachers are too lazy to teach.

That poor dog would have a boring life.

Yeah, at this point retail is done. clearly if bitcoin is going to move, it’s gonna be large sharks, government, or massive hedge funds that move the needle.
