This is why I never said ā€œallā€, why I never implied that ALL progressive parents are this or that. Making a statement like that would be foolish. This post is relating my personal experience. Yes, there are outliers. To use your example, yes, the Azov Battalion exists, but that doesn’t make every conservative a nazi in the same way yes, there are scumbags pushing gender affirming surgery on young children, but that doesn’t make every progressive parent or every supporter of trans rights one of these outlier scumbags

Yea think the idea of advocating for parents’ rights to something and advocating for parents to do something are different.

This idea that there is this huge population of progressive parents out here trying to push physical sex changing surgeries and force hormone treatments on young children is insanity. I know a lot of progressives. I know a lot of progressive parents, people who make me look like a conservative by comparison, but I don’t know a single progressive parent pushing this nonsense. I can say confidently that idk a single parent, nor have I personally heard of a single parent who would approve of such a permanent surgery for a young child. Most progressive parents I know just let their children dress however they like, without regard for gender norms and try to be respectful to their children’s name and pronoun preferences (most kids don’t think about shit like this, which is only right. Just let them be kids, for gods’ sake). Even in conversation, most parents I’ve spoken to about this have said they might consider having a conversation about hormone treatment when their child is an older teenager if that child came to them about it and was able to actually understand what is going on.

Long story short, progressive parents aren’t advocating this as a whole, and those groups that you hear about pushing this are probably people in the medical industry trying to open up a new market of services, purely to make money. Don’t believe the BS. #grownostr

Part 2 of my #AmericanRevolution #vexillology series: Gadsden

Designed in 1775, the flag is named for Christopher Gadsden, brigadier general in the Continental Army. He gifted it to Commodore Esek Hopkins, and the flag was unfurled on the main mast of Hopkins' flagship on December 20, 1775. Two days later, Congress made Hopkins commander-in-chief of the Continental Navy. The Continental Marines also flew the flag during the early part of the war.

The rattlesnake had been a "symbol of the unity" among rebels in the colonies, and had a long history as a political symbol in America. Benjamin Franklin used the snake for his ā€œJoin, or Dieā€woodcut in 1754. Gadsden intended his flag as a "warning to Great Britain" not to violate the liberties of its American subjects.

In the decades and centuries since, the Gadsden flag has been a symbol of rebellion, libertarianism, individualism, liberty, and dissent among many groups, and has (unfortunately) been adopted by many right wing statist groups in recent years, despite its history of rebellion.

Today, June 28, marks 54 years since the first day of the famous Stonewall Uprising in 1969 when when bar patrons at the Stonewall Inn fought back against police during a raid of the bar. Following the riots at the Greenwich Village bar, within weeks, local residents organized into activist groups demanding the right to live openly regarding their sexual orientation without fear of being arrested. While there had been smaller protests and riots for gay rights throughout the 1960s, Stonewall is widely considered the watershed moment for Gay Liberation, with the first Gay Pride marches happening only 1 year later on the first anniversary of the riot.
