nostr:npub1vwymuey3u7mf860ndrkw3r7dz30s0srg6tqmhtjzg7umtm6rn5eq2qzugd has just released episode 800.

EPISODE 800!

If you’ve never tried to be consistent with something let me tell you; 800 is an incredibly impressive number.

He has done that, throughout the years with no sponsors, no ads, no team or monetization strategy, just his raw passion.

An incredibly underrated genuine podcast.

Congrats David!

Introducing EXIT

You broke up with your ex; it wasn’t treating you well, maybe it was shadow banning you or your friends; it was manipulating you into becoming your worst possible self.

But over the years you accrued a bunch of quality shitposts, and perhaps some nuggets of wisdom.

Introducing: https://exit.pub:

The last bridge you’ll need to port over your data into the new world of decentralized freedom-tech.

1. Download your twitter archive

2. If Elon agrees, you’ll get a zip file; uncompress it and just use exit.pub to import your data into nostr

✅ original dates are used; whatever you posted in 2009 will show up as posted in nostr in 2009

✅ granular control of which tweets to import (threads, non-replies, replies)

✅ V4V, you choose how much your shitposts are worth

✅ it *should* preserve embedded images

✅ granular control of which relays you want to publish to

Try it out:

https://exit.pub

Holy shit, dude!

Genius!

and soon bankrupt 🤣

I got a boost from the dude himself. What a lovely start to my day 🤩

I don't understand how many of my well educated friends and those in need of financial guidance are still missing on reading these bibles, while they gladly doom scroll social platforms like crazy.

I feel alone at times, but sharing with Nostriches keeps bringing me joy and fading away those bad feelings.

Airplanes are already orders of magnitude more and we are fine. So as long as these internet faucets don't start colliding and falling on our heads, we should be fine... or not xD

We will for sure break things on the way.

I like your honesty and story telling comments. I wouldn't worry much about adoption, entropy, or the drunk uncle. We are in safe hands because we chose to be free. Trust builds up with time, but first, it has to start from within then spreads to others and everything.

Beaver Notes: A Private Cross-Platform Open-Source Note-Taking App

https://void.cat/d/Vn9LZYfXQkUZN7zwaQR3YP.webp

This app has a very similar look and feel to it as Obsidian, and also works in Markdown format. And although Obsidian has a kitchen sink full of community plugins, this app is a lot simpler, but it is proper open-source software.

I also like that it has a toolbar with all the usual shortcuts like bold, italics, underline, headings, bullets, etc as many people do like that ease of use, instead of only having to remember Markdown codes.

Very importantly for note taking, it does have easy-to-use tags that will help connect all your related notes. If you do need to sync your notes between devices, you could use something like Syncthing that will do that privately and directly between your devices, without any server required.

See https://news.itsfoss.com/beaver-notes/

I have been expanding my Obsidian usage like crazy. It works and works great. Sad that it is not FOSS, but I can't imagine taking another huge jump soon like that one I did from Trello.

Everything is local so worst case I'd lose the fancy plugin features.

Live Animation of over 5000 Starlink Satellites as well as GPS satellites around Earth

https://video.nostr.build/155bc761920c45524f3d0c2121e85ccf810bf61547eccc171e4d93309478e3e3.mp4

This is quite an interesting animation which really highlights very well how good the Starlink satellite coverage is. Even for continents like Africa, there is pretty good coverage, and over the vast oceans as well.

You can change the view to see GPS satellites and then you notice they are a lot higher altitude than Starlink's satellites. If normal mobile phones could start to use these low orbiting satellites, we'd really be able to connect all humans on Earth, and have coverage during disasters, or treks out into the uninhabited areas.

As long, of course, as you can trust the provider of the satellite service, whether it be an individual billionaire or a spy-happy nation state. This brings a whole new era in being able to data mine what passes through (or even under) this network.
