Yes, remixes are free but because of that there are too many UTXOs competing to be remixed.
It took several MONTHS for me to get 10 UTXOs to five mixes.
Sounds like a useful upgrade! I find it refreshing to have a BIP that seems kind of low risk, doesn’t want to fiddle with blocks, transactions or consensus.
Nothing big or pretentious here, just higher cost for a possible attack vector. 👍

False.
Lightning payments being to complex I don’t see what your point is here? Too many failed payments or too technical for the user to understand? The latter is not an argument since the end user doesn’t have to understand Lightning payments or Monero bulletproofs.
Lightning’s scaling limits are mostly about how many channels you can open on the Bitcoin blockchain in a given time. If every human being wanted to open a channel that would be quite difficult, yes.
Lightning does not however have a limit on how many tx are possible per second. A lightning tx is not broadcasted to the network and only known by the two channel partners.
Look at value4value streaming of sats over the lightning network.
If you are exchanging goods before the tx is sufficiently settled on the blockchain then you give up on exactly that transaction finality that cash advocates love.
30 seconds is still longer than I would like to wait at a busy cash register at a supermarket.
Lightning ⚡️ is about 10 times faster and also brings great sender confidentiality.
Vorbildlich! Nostr ist Twitter einfach überlegen. Schon jetzt nach einer kurzen Entwicklungszeit ist es klar erkennbar.

Encrypted Server Name Indication (ESNI) in the TLS protocol sound absolute fantastic to me and I think it would bring a big boost in privacy especially for people accessing self-hosted services from outside their LAN.
I regularly contact me homeserver with a distinguished subdomain for every service.
With ESNI it would not be detectable with service I am trying to access right now.
Looking forward to having it passed as a standard and shipped with every version of TLS👍

What do you think about Ordinals? Are they an ‚attack‘? Is it all blown up?
What would you do if you think something should be done at all?
Filter them on node-level due to the risk of being raided cause of hosting illegal content?
Soft fork?
Don‘t care because the protocol obviously allows them?

My2Cents: I do in fact think they are kind of attacking the base level of the #bitcoin network with garbage/spam. They should be filtered and deleted on the own node if possible.
They are not a real thread but ordinals do not belong on the #bitcoin blockchain IMO.
I think it’s a fad that will pass. In the meantime they are paying good fees to the miners, which is nice.
I am a bit afraid of what could happen if illegal content is uploaded and suddenly the bitcoin blockchain is “illegal“.
In the longieren I think NFTs will naturally move to a sidechain which is cheaper.
Could you omit the part before the @ if it equals the part after the @ sign?
Just as a UI feature for clients.
One solution that comes to mind is an image hosting service that only allows uploads from whitelisted npubs.
They sign images they upload and certify that they comply with the TOS.
Hosting provider could demand an upfront bond to be locked which can be seized when TOS have been violated.
A small additional ⚡️ charge per uploaded image could account for storage and moderation costs.
You could add your own desired IPFS APIs in the app which get the image for you and serve it to you over http. Piñata or Cloudflare offer something like that iirc.
On the other hand I don’t think it would be that hard to implement IPFS.js inside the mobile app.
100% agree that IPFS should be the media backend for nostr. It makes delivery of data more efficient and decentralized while also guaranteeing authenticity and longevity of content.
