I've heard one person describe it as the conservative version of The View.
I want to like Tim but he was at his best during/after 2008 and Occupy, and once he settled down I think he's stagnated.
Less, because I've nearly run out of sats. My attempts at topping up have been less than successful.
Tried to buy LN on an exchange. Failed. Something about a malformed LNURL, but it looks all fine to me.
Tried to open a channel over a month ago, still waiting. Tried to speed up the channel open with max fees, still waiting.
One day lightning will work for me... One day. I should write my attempts down for devs so they can see through a newbie's eyes...for sats of course.
Even the more mundane conveniences are sometimes inconvenient. I find myself wishing for manual windows at times, as odd as that sounds.
Haha, I know the feeling.
Everyone else seems to be building their own darknet blockchain whatevers out of spare parts in a cave, while all I can say is, "Herpdy derp, I made a perl script."
Australia was started as a penal colony after all. I'm sure that lingers in the national subconscious and is now able to express itself with the times.
As for Canada, we're the ones who largely refused to rebel under the British. We do as we're told and pretend that makes us better than the U.S. somehow, like the obedient "good" child. Our rep for being nice is really just arrogant posturing, we're a very authoritarian place.
Gotta love the word games. It's not a _general_ means of payment, but then it's not a means of payment. Nice try Pearson, I don't quite believe your macroeconomics text.

I wish we could quantify how much of its supposed value comes from first mover advantage, name recognition, and pumping from speculative investors, rather than actual utility.
On an even playing field there's nothing that it does better than others, with the one exception of "number go up".
We'd probably be more inclined to believe the climate doomsdayers if they walked the walk. Instead we see them drive their 37-car motorcades to the airport and then fly across the planet to hang with their colleagues and smugly virtue signal each other about what their going to bully us into.
I'd love to see cleaner tech but these guys are pushing the least efficient options in the worst ways possible.
Watched someone try to park their car the other day. They had to reverse three times before they could get properly in the spot.
There's nothing they can/will not justify with climate change.
In Canada, our bank notes are plastic polymer. Wouldn't surprise me if they use that to cease production, forcing a cashless society and CBDC adoption by claiming to fight the emissions of cash production.
Meanwhile, world leaders will continue to pump emissions from their private jets without consequence.
"Excessive Free Speech" is speech beyond the bounds and quotas established by the Inner Party.
Much like how we have free speech zones, we are now only allowed speech within certain mental bounds. But it's for our own good. Ignorance is Strength.
If I'm being robbed, I'll gently remind the robber that robbery is illegal. I'm sure they'll apologize for their confusion and change their ways.

Freedom of press! ...while banning any journalists not supporting his garbage, AND using tax money to facilitate bonuses for everyone in CBC. What type of government does this sort of thing? How obvious does it need to get?

It's pretty safe to say the greatest threat to Canada is the Canadian government.
How I feel now that it's tax season:
They'll make up an excuse. They always do.
"Now the only real problem with the theory that I can see is that itβs ableist."

Cut off in traffic by a cop car who didn't yield despite the yield to traffic sign.
Even the smallest laws are too much for "law enforcement" to follow. The laws are for us plebs, not them.
When asked how my evening was I had meant to say it was good fun. Instead I said it was food gun.
Even better, he threatened to tax grocery retailers who didn't keep prices down. His solution to every problem is to tax it harder.
For example, Canada doesn't burn books, we shred or landfill them because its more environmentally responsible somehow.
