I went to the theatre without knowing that Sweeny Todd was a musical. My initial horror followed by the enjoyable experience was one of my favorite movie watching experiences ever. Lala Land is also pretty great. But yes, there are a lot of bad musicals.

In this apartment in Montreal the washer will run all the way through with no problems IF the lights in the apartment are on. If the lights are off, the washer will flip its breaker. The lights & washer are not on the same breaker.
I have built houses & am familiar with residential wiring. I cannot fathom how this is possible. I did not believe it until I saw it repeated consistently many times. Part of me still doesn't fully believe it because it makes no sense to me. But maybe there is something wildly different about commercial wiring?

Our dental appointment today in Montreal was prevented by the police in what was most likely a politically motivated raid. It seems their computers (at the very least) are being seized which is horribly disruptive & they will not be able to operate for some time. Hopefully Dr Benoit has decent lawyers.
He got a lot of publicity (& negative attention from govt) during covid for being opposed to both masks & the experimental gene therapy jabs. He opposes fluoride laced products & the use of any metals in dentistry. He specializes in removal of mercury amalgam fillings & root canals. He uses only ceramics.
They say he opposes products that are proven safe & promotes more expensive solutions to line his own pockets. This is in spite of the fact that his customers generally seek him out for exactly what he offers. It sounds to me like others in the field are insulted by his insistence that they are wrong & feel threatened by his success. Hopefully he will not be shut down for long.
Living the truth is a narrow path, because reality has a specific shape & we can only deviate so much without serious consequences. But there are an infinite number of ways to live a lie & destroy yourself & others.
I'm not sure of what use it is to believe in "a divine play of illusion" or how you even define such a thing. But you cannot build cars & airplanes & skyscrapers in a subjective world. Again, our inability to perfectly determine every detail of our objective reality doesn't make it any less objective.
I do agree that the divide between perspectives is a primary source of social conflict, & people could be divided & both be equally wrong, but the feelings of helplessness & anxiousness when it comes to interacting with the world is a good sign that you are wrong.
Emotions are a natural part of the human experience. But "feeling like a woman" is not a real thing. It's a delusion.
If feelings do not align with reality (if someone is deathly afraid of clowns or elevators or something) it is their responsibility to align their feelings with reality.
There is an objective reality. No person has the ability to tell perfectly what is objectively true, but we can generally tell what is closer or farther from the truth given some time.
The people who cling to delusions tend to feel increasingly anxious, more easily triggered, & more powerless. The amount of truth or reality they need to avoid to maintain their delusions tends to grow with time.
People who are aligned with reality tend to feel more relaxed & efficatious with time.
We should not expect people who prioritize feelings over reality to have the capacity to be honest. If a person considers themselves a woman because they "feel" that way, despite having a dick, then they cannot even be honest with themselves. Their definition of "honest" is literally based on arbitrary whims, so when things do not go their way they will "honestly" tell you that they feel like it is the fault of anyone but themselves. When caught in a lie they will again ramble on about their feelings. They are not interested in objective reality.

IMO the FCC threatened ABC in order to take advantage of a market driven change (the firing of Kimmel for low ratings) as a tool to further radicalize the portion of the left that they still have influence over. There are some who truly see Kimmel's firing as some sort of proof that the current admin is fascist. Doing so creates a precedent for further expansion of govt power (future govt pressure for firing govt opposed commentators & a foundation for hate speech laws) while further priming the most delusional leftists for violence against what they perceive to be fascism. With the further goal of using any resulting leftwing violence as an excuse for gun control (under the guise of required mental health assessments) and increasing authoritarian surveillance.
It's weird how many "nothing good can ever happen" sort of detractors bitcoin obtains while they use bitcoin & all the tech bitcoin made possible. Keep whining that the future is hopeless if that works for you, I guess.

The fact that there is some sort of weird ass top down agenda being imposed on western society is most obvious in the rise of unisex bathrooms. There is literally zero natural market demand for this bullshit. No sane woman wants to sit where men are pissing & no sane man wants to shit in a place where random women might see.
The left has been actively importing criminals in order to change congressional representation & reshape voting districts. They have also been actively manufacturing problems that historically make people demand govt solutions (facilitating & subsidizing drug use, legalizing theft, etc).
These are serious issues, so people on the right are not wrong for wanting these issues addressed.
The Trump admin's effort to address these problems has been to create an unaccountable federal police force which doesn't have to show badges or follow any of the basic protocols for making arrests. And like most self serving human beings, ICE agents appear to prefer pursuit of peaceful & productive human beings as opposed to violent gang members who might actually harm them. There are no quotas or controls that are likely to be effective in changing the way any coercively funded paramilitary force is going to behave.
The only real solution to the immigration problem is to eliminate the social programs that attract parasites & criminals, while removing the taxes & controls that repel the intelligent & productive.
The only way the govt can solve the problems the govt created is to get out of the way. Unfortunately, that is unlikely.
