I went to the theatre without knowing that Sweeny Todd was a musical. My initial horror followed by the enjoyable experience was one of my favorite movie watching experiences ever. Lala Land is also pretty great. But yes, there are a lot of bad musicals.

Now that’s an interesting experience that went well and I will admit that I ain’t seen a musical in a theatre before, just on the big screen so perhaps that could be a differentiator. That said I tried everything from Hamilton to Chicago and it didn’t work out well for me
