There's some neat mechanics in here that I really like
my favorite is stealth as a Pan-Asian force, combine some militia with AT guns, hide in the mountains, lure an enemy armored brigade towards them...

I'm good at strategy games since that's my favorite genre, particularly MP map games. A few exceptions though
>HOI4, used to be a competitive player but it became a very, very stale meta (rush medium, rush CAS, hope you outproduce enemy)
>Shadow Empire (extremely complex, and I don't have a good "feel" for it)

I have an army 2x my size on the run from my forces, and he's forced to manuever into hostile territory and fighting shitty armies while taking constant attrition damage in hopes of trying to get back home because he overextended super far

also there's no way you could be worse of an ally than my Oregon friend. Literally pulled a mussolini on me (invaded Idaho, couldn't actually conquer it and lost his army, refused to send reinforcements since he's scared about cali, and is just... there...)
same, the desktop version is waaaay better for actually playing though.
I can give you the rundown of how shit works. Took me like 4-5 hours to really get a "handle" on how to do it

I've only used Allies, but I'm a huge fan of the Pan-Asian doctrine

like comparing it to HOI4 it actually has non-godawful mechanics I like
>artillery can bombard adjacent tiles, and upgrading them increases their range + damage
>tac bombers can be shot down by basic infantry if overused
>encirclements don't cause instant victory, it just slows the enemy down
>fun techs
>naval isn't dogshit useless (battleships do crazy bombardment damage)
>tons of ways to win
