Existential dread?
We’re channeling the joy of the revolution with our June Cohort. Whether you are looking for dance music for an upcoming gathering or inspiration on how to make an impact, this month’s cohort has it all. Inspired by this passage from Emma Goldman’s autobiography, Living My Life, we hope following this latest group of Creators, Activists and Journalists will bring some joy to your feed and summer!
"At the dances I was one of the most untiring and gayest. One evening a cousin of Sasha [Alexander Berkman], a young boy, took me aside. With a grave face, as if he were about to announce the death of a dear comrade, he whispered to me that it did not behoove an agitator to dance. Certainly not with such reckless abandon, anyway. It was undignified for one who was on the way to become a force in the anarchist movement. My frivolity would only hurt the Cause.
I grew furious at the impudent interference of the boy. I told him to mind his own business, I was tired of having the Cause constantly thrown into my face. I did not believe that a Cause which stood for a beautiful ideal, for anarchism, for release and freedom from conventions and prejudice, should demand the denial of life and joy. I insisted that our Cause could not expect me to become a nun and that the movement should not be turned into a cloister. If it meant that, I did not want it. "I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody’s right to beautiful, radiant things." Anarchism meant that to me, and I would live it in spite of the whole world--prisons, persecution, everything. Yes, even in spite of the condemnation of my own comrades I would live my beautiful ideal.”

Great to meet you all, cheers Nos!
Just got my node fully functional. I got channels open. I'm doing transactions. Life's good!
Oh look, an update from umbrel... Haha hangs at 99% for the next 2hrs.
Yeah, I'm tired of this. How can I be reliable, as an uncle Jim, with this kind of shit. My normie fam will only see that "bitcoin doesn't work".
Lemme spin up raspiblitz and see what that's like. Siiiiiiiiiigh nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka warned me. 🥺😞
Ahh man not good to read, I’ve literally just got back and forth between the two and went away re-upping Umbrel again as I realised RasPiBlitz will take months to sync.
Sounds like the idea they had was to make something called a computer.
I think others may have beat them to it…
Hence asking the question here. I can think through a number of scenarios and simple things such as using a trusted venue where I know the staff but if my work has taught me anything, it’s that often the dumbest shit is what kicks your ass!
I’ve noticed a couple of people here that organise meets so I’ll be dropping them a message too.
Not really an option in my country. Well I guess it is technically but a strong probability of ending up in jail!
Exactly, I feel safe in my area with locals, I avoid the town centre Friday and Saturday nights but it’s a very safe place to live. I have a couple of pals local who own a bit of ‘crypto’ (I know, I know…) so they could be up for coming along but I really just want to network around corn specifically.
I’m away from home at the moment but I’ve strongly believed in being the change I want to see, which is why I run my own server, Fediverse instances etc. despite being unable to code.
It would be great to build a IRL network to trade skills with and attempt some kind of circular economy. Everything starts out small right?
Contemplating starting a meet in my area. It’s a small town, quite far from any city.
I have a couple of nice places in mind. My main concern is basic opsec. Sitting in a bar I know, on my own and asking for strangers to join me sounds plausible but also risky. I’m super small time so a $5 wrench attack is unlikely to cover the cost of the wrench but still…
Anyone started such a thing from absolute ground zero?
Say hello to Larry the Lizard.

I try to live in the 1980s when phones didn’t report every move to the Po Po.
Fair enough, I watched the video, thanks for the explanation, admittedly most of it went over my head but I think I got the gist.
I hope my VPN works as expected, it seems a popular choice with the more security focussed people I follow.
I go from the baseline that there’s very little security on any network. Good to know the tools that can at least minimise risks. Cheers!
Out of curiosity, where did it say? Would be good to know if this VPN works.
Once you discover I’m on the toilet, how does it feel?
Ah this guy has been to my house!
If you work in the NHS on their Windows 95 systems, please update the security patches x
