Surprisingly good conversation about some history of AI, privacy and surveillance capitalism.
nostr:npub1yxzkmtuyctjw2pffp6e9uvyrkp29hrqra2tm3xp3z9707z06muxsg75qvv has a great elegy for Vice which goes in to how the big social media companies, especially meta, killed the company with rug pull after rug pull.
Although it doesn’t mention nostr or any emerging solution, this gets at why what we’re doing is important. We’ve got a solution to the payments part of the problem, we know how to talk about that. This essay gives us a roadmap to talk to publishers and journalists about why they should build their business on a permissionless open protocol, eg nostr.
Here’s the essay as a series of posts, tweet stream like: nostr:note1ea0cqlj7zdytvcs7vktu77g29uwcy7z4npauz9eyplf2c9wu7e5sq68tkz
And here is in an easier to read way, on Cory’s own site: https://pluralistic.net/2024/02/24/anti-posse/
We should be taking up the banner of Nostr as a powerful tool in implementing “POSSE (Post Own Site, Share Everywhere), a strategy that sees social media as a strategy for bringing readers to channels that you control:”
https://pluralistic.net/2022/02/19/now-we-are-two/#two-much-posse
Nostr is really built for POSSE in someway 🤓 And Cory’s content is 🙏
Hi there nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft 👋🏻
Nice to see you trying out CCNS 👀😎 You know you can shitpost all your projects there as well? If you don’t it, I will 😜

That was cool!

New site loads SO MUCH faster. Thanks nostr:npub1qe3e5wrvnsgpggtkytxteaqfprz0rgxr8c3l34kk3a9t7e2l3acslezefe for telling me about webp files 🙏
One of the good things (besides all the bad ones) Google has developed for the open web 😉 You're welcome!
Do you have a own website? Looking for things you can do with it?
Well...I just found this nice article '100 things you can do on your personal website' 😄

There a good and bad things around federation imo
Federation is becoming a real buzzword imo. It's moving to the 'cloud' landscape as well to compete the hyperscalers (Google, AWS and Azure).
As example, look at this new EU initiative called IPCEI CIS https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_23_6246
There is a Dutch internet service / cloud provider working on a technical implementation (a networking protocol) to exchange data between servers. The project is called ECOFED.
https://presentations.bit.nl/ecofed-intro.pdf
Is there a discussion in the Nostr commutity how relays could 'federate' events? I would like to research that a bit more :) I think it's worth it to consider a common community consenses on the topic 'federation' between Nostr relays. Could it make the Nostr network more resilient? When some technical IT networking guru asks me why Nostr relays don't transmit data between each other...I just don't know or have any good answer for him.
It's gone on my side now...
Same issue here!!! So annoying, it must be a bug right?!
What a wonderful interview with nostr:npub1art8cs66ffvnqns5zs5qa9fwlctmusj5lj38j94lv0ulw0j54wjqhpm0w5 👌🏻 #Dutch #TheGenesisBook is on my to-read list for sure!

"In search of a digital town square" by Pete Zeldman
Nice! IFB = infantile fascist billionaire
Nostr is not mentioned here. I suspect Mr Zeldman isn't aware of the existence of the Nostr network (yet). So let me just ask it: https://nwb.social/@zeldman@front-end.social/111971087334219048
"If BlueSky is MacOS and Threads is Windows, Mastodon is Linux: a great choice for techies, but likely too steep a hill for Ma and Pa Normie."
Where would we scale Nostr compared to this? It's (still) very geeky as wel.

Nostrdam at May 23rd in Arnhem right =)
I'm curious with what massive rant on Apple the founders of 37signals will come up with, regarding the iOS 17.4 update killing PWAs on iOS in Europe.
