I think the why people abandon Nostr and Bitcoin is in my opinion, it's because they don't truly understand the purpose behind these protocols. When it comes to Bitcoin, people often jump on the bandwagon when the price is skyrocketing, but as soon as the hype dies down, they lose interest. It's a classic case of NGU syndrome.

As for Nostr, I believe people initially see it as a Twitter alternative, but they soon realize it's a different beast altogether. Unlike Twitter, Nostr doesn't have an addictive algorithm that feeds them content. Instead, users need to actively seek out and follow the people they're interested in. Unfortunately, many people aren't used to taking control of their feed, and as a result, they quickly lose enthusiasm. If they don't make an effort to follow others, their feed remains empty, and they abandon ship.

It's a shame, because both Nostr and Bitcoin have so much more to offer beyond their surface-level appeal. But until people take the time to understand the underlying principles and values, they'll continue to jump from one shiny object to the next, never truly experiencing the benefits of these innovative protocols.

Now it's time to go back to the basics and theach the reality of this tools, Bitcoin is freedom and uncensorship money when we self custody it, and nostr is the uncensorship speech!

The lesson here is, when people get in my the wrong reasons they will leave as fast as they joined!

Someone I love wrote to me with a Kickstarter project, asking me to back it

I wanted to, but then was hit with the permission wall: sign up, create an account, give us all your information, credit card info, all this stuff

The current web is built in an infuriating way where you can only support those you like through permissioned walls built by rent-seekers posing as "connectors"

So, I didn't proceed, and didn't back them, which sucks

I hope they will join us on Nostr soon so I can back them effortlessly with sound money and no-rent seeking

Verifiable parts of the badge to specific parties. We can't do this on the current version of Nostr, but BBS+ signatures allow you to remove data from a signed payload and adjust the signature before sending that information forward. You could change the event to show only the bits you want to show while keeping completely verifiable with the original signer's keys.

We need some form of private badges with selective disclosure. Badges should be issued privately and the receiver gets to decide if, when and how to show it around.

Think employee access cards as badges with a selective disclosure option: show or not to show my employee number.
