IMHO, social media is the initial use case for #nostr but the not the killer use case. Reminds me of the early days of the web when everyone set up their own home page, then abandoned. It might take a few iterations, but I believe #nostr will give rise to an entirely new ecosystem that we have not yet envisioned.
The most powerful thing about an npub is its independent existence. It exists independently of client, platform, and most importantly, independently of any legal enforcement system.
That means, with my npub, I can seamlessly transition between clients and platforms which I actively do with iOS, Android, Ubuntu, macOS and with the clients: Amethyst, Primal and Damus.
I know of no other network where this can be done. Power is completely vested in me via my npub.
The other thing I have been experimenting with is Pay-to-Npub (#P2NPUB) where any npub can immediately receive payment via Lightning and received as ecash.
Stepping back, I realize these are the properties that are going to make #nostr win in the long run - independent existence and the ability to receive payments.
I love analog relays
You’ll need a tube relay for that thing.
Pug wanted, but did not go on the canoe expedition.

It’s up to the client to render the token and redeem.
Pls check your nostr dm - demo of Pay to Npub. Send ecash to any npub.
Nice.
As for publicly available verifiable information, I’ve been thinking that the kind 0 event could contain any verifiable information that needs to be public. Right now it is being used for a nostr profile but it can be easily extend to include additional metadata. Similar in nature to the DNS SOA (start of authority) record.
Yeah, great idea! When you say selective disclosure, do you mean selectively disclosing the badge to a specific party?
Don’t obey. Verify.
Not familiar with those clients. Did you receive the cashu token at least?
