A member of CrowdHealth reached out to their Care Advocate looking for a great pediatrician. That member just so happens to live down the street from our CEO @SchoonoverAndy.
Care Advocate: "Andy, do you happen to know a great pediatrician in your area?"
Andy: "Dr. XYZ is the best. They should go there!"
As a result our member was incredibly grateful they got a recommendation from someone who had firsthand experience.
A bell went off. We need to crowdsource great doctors. There are so many directories of docs that are terrible.
So, we are building our own doctor database and we want you to help. The core of this database will be from our existing community. They have seen thousands of doctors over the last couple years. We want to supplement this data with recommendations from people who follow us from afar but aren't CrowdHealth members.
All existing members of CrowdHealth will have access to the database. If you are not a member of CrowdHealth, if you contribute a doc to the database we will give you access to the entire database. If you need to find a great doctor and we don't have one in the database, we will reach out to other members in our community who live close to see if they know of a good one. If not, we will look for one for you.
We will accept any doctor contribution but we are in special need of great doctors who are:
Primary Care
Internal Medicine
Pediatrics
OBGYN
Dermatology
Independents (not affiliated with hospital systems)
Ones that accept #BTC
We are gathering data over the next two months and will launch the database in late summer/early fall.
Submit your doctor recommendation here:
form.jotform.com/231774947647169
If you submit a valid email we will send you login information when the database is ready.
- this is not to be confused with a network. We abhor networks
- only doctors right now to keep it simple. We will consider other practitioners in the future.
- v2 will show doctor cash pay pricing...just not a part of the MVP launch.
- if you submit a doctor you will be a part of a work in progress. We will grow the database over time. If you live in Salisbury, MD and are going to call and complain that we don't have a doctor recommendation in Salisbury, MD then please don't join.
We đ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ą this. When you can impact pricing by paying in cash and reduce healthcare usage by being more healthy the system wide impact is magnified.
Episode 2 of The Sovereign Health Podcast is live. Our guest is Dr Dave Heitmann. We chat toilets that can analyze our waste to predict adverse health events, mirrors that can spot skin cancerâŚand our CEO @SchoonoverAndy is coached into his first cold plunge. youtu.be/uGhmCDRZZuI
May Crowdfunding by type
Crowdfunding in July will be
$60 per member < 55
$120 per member 55+
$180 per family
Subject to change if member(s) has a large event.
3 changes to our #btc community:
Change #1 :
We currently collect $50 per month for membership fees and UP TO $125 to help a community member for their health event. If the community does well and we ask for less than $125 then the difference is excess funds. You have historically sent that excess to Swan.
Starting 7/1 you will keep excess funds in your pocket and use it however youâd like. Invest it wherever youâd like. Take your family out to dinner. Itâs your money. The better the community does, the more money in your pocket.
Expectation for July (members <55)
$50 Subscription fee
$60 crowdfunding request
$110 total
$65 in excess funds (you keep this)
This could change if we have a large event.
If you are on a promo code we will only ask for a total (subs fee plus crowdfunding) up to the promo $ amount.
Change #2 #btc doctor database. Details to follow later this week.
Change #3 âĄď¸. Details to follow next week.
Weâve launched The Sovereign Health pod! This is an excuse to chat with healthcare experts about things we are excited about. Personal responsibility in healthcare. Nutrition. New tech. Innovative delivery systems. Fiat health.
Our first guest is a treat! @ifixhearts is a cardiac surgeon on a mission to put himself out of business.
88% of us are metabolically unhealthy. Are you? And what can we do about it? youtu.be/_kV7IOzGD6w
We hope youâll join us!
Get it on the app!
Itâs been about 1.5 years since we launched and we have nearly 100 babies born/in womb.

âWhatâs the difference between health insurance and CrowdHealth?â
We fight for your bills getting paid.
Health insurance fights against your bills getting paid.
Special thanks to @MartyBent @saifedean @Breedlove22 @natbrunell and @ZubyMusic for joining us. Thanks to the over 100 CrowdHealth members who came out. It was incredible to meet so many great folks in the community. We got some great CrowdHealth success stories and great feedback.
We announced three initiatives at the #btc happy hour last night (which was a blast). We will be disclosing them here over the next few weeks. The first is that, like May, we will only be charging $50 per member in June. Because our members have been so efficient in their spending we will not be asking for any additional crowdfunding deposits.
Bitcoin circularity in healthcare, and the medical industrial complex w @Breedlove and @SchoonoverAndy
Fund humans, not health insurance
We helped Ngozi save $25,000. đ§Ąđ§Ąđ§Ą
We get asked often how we get such good pricing for our members.
Insurance model: throw down an insurance card and deal with the consequences later. High time preference. Price takers.
CrowdHealth model: let us negotiate the procedure before you go and pay at the point of service. Low time preference. Price makers.
80% of chronic disease can be avoided with healthy eating, $1 out of $4 is spent on diabetics (90% preventable for TDM2), yet med schools don't teach nutrition.
The only Nutrition focused course in Harvard Med course catalog is NCE522.0- Culinary Medicine and Nutrition. Focus is on cooking.
Our system is bad from both sides: bad eating leading to chronic disease (higher consumption) for which we pay exorbitant $ to treat.
Sooner you realize that the majority of doctors don't have a clue about nutrition, the better off you'll be. Ask for the source of their info. If its a huge national org (AHA, ADA, etc) then you know they've outsourced their learning to huge orgs that have been wrong for 50 years.
Happy Cinco de Mayo đ
1) Crowdfunding requests have been significantly lower than expected resulting in funds available in your crowdfunding accounts being higher than expected. We hate inefficient uses of capital. Therefore, we will not be collecting any additional deposits to your crowdfunding accounts this billing cycle. Subscription fee only. We will soon announce some changes to put more money back in your pockets. Use the funds to stack some sats, give to your favorite charity, or have an awesome Cinco de Mayo fiesta. đš
2) We are eliminating negotiation fees and account closure fees. They were too confusing. We are wrapping all our fees into the subscription fee to increase simplicity and transparency. Subscription fee is $50 per person per month going forward.
