I don't recommend products very often at all. I spent 6 years looking for a replacement wallet and the carbon fibre frenchie wallet has served me very well for the last 3 years. Also use the backpack as mtly daily driver and is amazing with my bad back.
Don't know if trolling or not. Guess I'll find out when I get a funny look from folk asking for directions.

I would say both suggested distros are completely n00b friendly. Qubes, wilhile fantastic, does need some technical know and has a much steeper learning curve.
