If you have memorized a very important password, but still want to have it written down somewhere in some form, consider using Shamir Secret Sharing Scheme (SSSS). Encrypt and split your passwords in N pieces and store the pieces at multiple safe locations. To reconstruct the password, you have to bring together at least M pieces, where M <= N.

Yes, for absolutely critical things, I would go for shorter 4-5 words passwords. They are easy to remember and still have high complexity = entropy.
For regular websites/services one could use a password manager like Bitwarden, Keepass, Enpass, etc.
