s reading a tape measure... well, a mystery?

Well, here is what you need to know:

Reading a tape measure is a basic skill used in various DIY projects and construction work. Here's a brief guide on how to read a tape measure:

1 - Understanding the Parts:

- Blade: The metal strip of the tape measure.

- Hook: The metal piece at the end that moves for accurate measurements.

- Markings: The measurement markings on the blade.

2 - Start at Zero:

- When measuring, align the hook at the starting point, and the measurement begins from the zero mark.

3 - Whole Inches:

- The largest markings on the tape measure represent whole inches. Each inch is divided into smaller segments.

4 - Half-Inch Mark:

- Between each whole-inch mark, there's a smaller mark indicating half an inch.

Quarter-Inch Mark:

- Some tape measures have even smaller marks between the half-inch marks, representing quarter-inch measurements.

5 - Eighth-Inch and Sixteenth Mark:

- In some tape measures, you may find even smaller marks between the quarter-inch marks, indicating eighth-inch and sixteenth inch measurements.

6 - Reading the Measurement:

- Identify the whole-inch measurement first, then check for any additional markings indicating fractions.

7 - Adding Fractions:

- If you have multiple measurements, add the whole inches separately and then add the fractions.

8 - Measuring Length:

- When measuring length, ensure the tape is pulled straight for accurate results.

Recording Measurements:

Record your measurements as whole inches or a combination of inches and fractions.

Remember to use the appropriate side of the tape measure (imperial or metric) based on your project's requirements. Practice and familiarity with the markings will improve your accuracy over time.

metric system would have been so much easier lol

oh yea def - a few hacks work like internal datelines, reward system but today just too jaded to deal with job A so got job B and C completed instead. The power of small wins hack is pretty neat too - not something one would do always, but on days when you need that booster, ya know ? =)

what's your source and motivation for innovation? mine has been on tackling pain points and just what seems fun

i need to be more disciplined tmr - today i am finding legit excuses to avoid it and do everything else lol

today is one of those days where i need to get job A done but I am physically exhausted and the job consist of a roller coaster of emotions so i decided to do everything else on the to-do checklist for the week instead - and crossed out quite a bit.

Funny how the brain works and in being able to trick it to keep moving forward. There is this idea on "The Power of Small Wins" - where if you are unable to complete a job for whatever reason i.e too difficult, too overwhelming, too exhausted, too etc etc, then try to complete other smaller jobs - it clears up your task list, your headspace and you get to celebrate small wins which will motivate you. And at least each day is maximised.

If you'll have other ways, do share

the power of small wins

Iโ€™m sorry you feel that way. Iโ€™m a firm believer of what you allow and donโ€™t allow. Instead of needing to be save or seen, for me, if there is a problem, change the situation and if canโ€™t change, then change the approach and if nothing changes, then i have to remove myself from the equation. In my note, I was in awe by the level of maturity that came with kindness, but am in complete awareness of the issues I need to resolve to eliminate from future attacks and working on it. Be your own hero, write your own story. You got this.

Hinges and connectors make a huge diff to how a design takes shape in its overall form and structure. These minor components play a big role in shaping ideas into reality

When you are prepared for the 999th attack, but treated with extreme kindness instead. There are few things in life that shocks the living hell out of me these days, and in a good way ๐Ÿค

me listening to VCs preaching about EBITDA at early stages - there was a time i would freak out about the "complex" finance questions and feel like shit for not meeting their 10x - 20x requirements. Now I just think - idiots, don't need them on my journey. Perks about understanding finance and investment is ruling out dumb investors early on. That and finding ones who can align with your cap strategy and bring value to the table. Wanna play the game, play the damn game.

oh wow, this view. its beautiful

Like France who still owns many countries from colonisation days, TIL the Kingdom of Netherlands owns 3 countries Aruba, Curaรงao, Sint Maarten and 3 public bodies in the Caribbean Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. Public bodies means these countries have a degree of self-governance but are ultimately overseen by the Dutch gov't. The Hague was built from the colonisation of Indonesia's trade, the irony. That aside, the Dutch culture is pretty rich - Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, Mondrian are all from the Netherlands. This month is a lot on reading of the Dutch culture in recent times, especially over the last 50 years. I love how Amsterdam rose to give a taste of freedom. I also love how the cycling culture picked up - apparently even the PM cycles to his office. I've been digging into the art, fashion and tech movement there. I'm also curious about the entrepreneurship ecosystem and the economy in recent times. If you have some book suggestions on Holland in recent times, do pass it on
