OK, so now I've got a copy of the anarcho-punk music video (featuring a mid-20s yours truly!) that I wanted to upload on PeerTube to share with the world. Anyone got any suggestions for a good PR server for this?

I was able to install this from command line with apt. Worked a treat. Thank you!

> Peopleverse. suggestion :D
OK. Can you suggest a phrase(s) with "Peopleverse" in it that could work as the name of a meetup?
#ThoughtExperiment
Once these two sets of mutually-reinforcing, movement-breaking thought viruses are in the community, our job is pretty much done. We can sit back and watch them tear their own movements to pieces, both sides absolutely convinced they're fighting the good fight against their corporate globalization enemies.
The only thing we have to do is monitor their networks for anyone who gets wise to what we're up to, and accuse them of being a Nazi (*and* a commie).
Job done.

Once these two sets of ideas take hold, the activists will start spreading them through their own networks. Conflict with people holding the other set will only encourage them to spread the set they're holding with more urgency.
All the purging will undercut their ability to organise these mass protests, as will the general climate of fear and distrust created by all the spreading of our FUD, and the wedges it will drive between allies, and eventually even friends.

Two, we patiently prime the rest of them with a set of bloody-minded dogmas.
One that says anyone who says anything even vaguely crypto-fascist - even if it only looks that way if you squint at just right - is definitely a Nazi and planning to enslave women and kill gay people. Then another one that says anyone that sounds even vaguely like a Nazi must be mercilessly purged, and never spoken to again. Then another one that says anyone who talks to people who might be Nazis is a Nazi.

Then some intern at my company comes up with a genius idea, that I will, of course, take credit for.
What we do, they say, is seed two lots of mutually contradictory ideas into their networks.
One, we troll the well-meaning but gullible old-school-unionist and eco-nationalist types with all sorts of vaguely plausible-sounding anti-corporate conspiracy theories. All of them built around tropes that sound vaguely crypto-fascist if you squint at them the right way.

It's the early noughties. My PR company is part of a global viral marking campaign, funded by the G8, WTO, IMF, WB, WEF etc. They're annoyed by the networked activist movement whose massive global protests keeps shutting down their photo op meetings, and distracting the news media from making them look good. We're tasked with coming up with a strategy for breaking up these networks and keeping them from reforming.
How could we possibly do that?

Tinfoil hate (n. phrase): The bigotry of people dumb enough to think that spreading baseless speculation with other dumb people will magically protect them from a well-organised state-corporate system that exists to screw them, and everyone else who isn't rich enough to opt-out of getting screwed.

Just mute or block, and get on with your day. Thanks : )

I presume it's a case of "give me convenience or give me death!" (to quote the Dead Kennedys). They don't have to have a cash register or go to the bank with a cash bag. They don't have to train their staff in cash handling. Card payments are often quicker, especially in the age of PayWave.
Finally, many people don't know about the surveillance capitalist dystopia, or don't care. So hardly anyone uses cash anymore, except for tin-foil hat wearing freaks like me.
I very much doubt it's about...

AFAIK they pay fees on every EFTPOS transaction, and even higher fees on credit card/ PayWave transactions. I can't imagine the cost of banking cash at closing time each day would be higher than all that.
nostr:npub1trdnqrfstufc45awha43p6xy2n0v6czuhapzh4r09hap08dg0c6s9gussx Any idea why? Maybe it's about security ("No cash on premises, not worth trying to rob us"), or cost ("Banks charge so much for cash deposits that we lose money on cash transactions")?

Wow, the #DataFarms are really circling the wagons bigtime. First Titter closing down API access, and then anonymous web access. Then cRedit closing down API access. ThemTube have been wriggling and kicking to stop instances of Invidious and Piped from working. Now they're hammering the devs of youtube-dl:
"Access denied... Due to a ruling of the Hamburg Regional Court, access to this website is blocked."
Anyone know any other ways of downloading YT videos?

"Haven't a Clue" would be an ideal title. I could parody the form factor and cover design of his miserable screed, complete with a photo of me looking suitably gormless...

Sounds right. The QRCode isn't essential, I guess. There are others ways you could enter a vendor ID. But it was a very smooth HX* with very little room for error.
I seldom saw anyone else in China paying any other way. I used cash like the weirdo I am, with debit card as a backup.

On one occasion, after buying a meal at the same street food cart a few times, I ordered a meal and the guy started cooking it. When he was finished and I went to pay, I realized I didn't have any cash (they don't have debit card machines). He just handed me the meal and waved me away. From a memory a student translated for me, so I could assure him I'd pay him next time. Which I did.
China was cool like that. Everyone was very trusting and for the most part, very honest.

Ah, ok. So you're basically just getting the vendor's userid via the qr code.
