Depends on the server software. Mastodon lets you point one account to the other, and your followers migrate to the new server.
GoToSocial now supports the same feature. I can't speak to the others.

I still love the Fosstodon community and all of the groovy nerdy stuff that goes on here. The local feed is probably the best I've ever seen in terms of quality *and* quantity.

Heliboard is really quite nice. You can even load in the proprietary swipe typing library (caveat emptor, of course)

I relate. It's not something I recommend — I've just kinda resigned to using it for now, because the typing experience is so much less frustrating.

But to *actually* answer your question, I've used #Heliboard, #FUTO Keyboard, and #GBoard interchangeably for a couple weeks now.
The level of frustration and correction on GBoard is just much lower than the other two.
It's proprietary as fudge, but GBoard just has a lot of smarts under the hood.
I have it entirely firewalled off from the internet, of course. ;)
I hate to say it, but switching back to #GBoard has been a total game-changer.
Not even #FUTO Keyboard comes close in terms of accuracy.

I'm kinda sad that the NextStep derivates are all in maintenance mode and barely used (not counting Apple products). That OS had so many great ideas.
Have you looked at HelloSystem and AiryxOS? They're both #FreeBSD-based OS projects taking inspiration from early Mac OS X.
