Yeah, euthenasia has been routinely performed on the terminally ill for decades now and the push to normalise it now is all about broadening the scope. Soon we'll be told we're selfish for wanting to live.
Cold Sun were another late 60s psych act from Austin, like 13th Floor Elevators (they even had the Elevator's original drummer at one point), but with an autoharp rather than a jug to bring the old timey psychedelic weirdness. They only recorded one album, which wasn't released until 1990, but autoharp player/vocalist Bill Miller played with Roky Erickson & Blieb Alien in the mid 70s.

Yeah, a ton of then ended up here. It's funny because now their descendents have no idea what their own history is and they're all rushing to apologise for the sins of the English government of the early 19th century.
No, some dude had a meltdown though. The short answer seems to be that some Americans do but other Americans think they're weird. Either that or some Canadians hijacked the thread and are fucking with us.
It was most likely the Irish that brought them to Australia.
That's how my family ended up in Australia.
It was an honest question asked in good faith, I swear.
I asked my wife if she'd heard about this and she said maybe it's just one of those weird cultural differences "you know, like how English people have carpet in their bathrooms and no shower."
Her words.

This is how we do it in Australia. It's called a "billy" and if you look closely you'll see that it's actually an empty dog food can.

Shit, that's fancy. We don't have anything like that here.
It sounds like a license to print money, but I worry that they're happy the way they are. They're odd like that.
They probably don't even do that but just wait for the water to boil in the pan like savages.
Imagine living like that.
Maybe it's just electric kettles they don't use. We need Jonathan Ross or Louis Theroux to go back and make fun of them for it.
