Why bother with #Linux, when there's serviceable, established, free #UNIX, called the #BSD👹?

OK, I'm just asking for it. Let it rip.

#MIT #Scheme #programming language and the #SICP 1ed textbook did a lot of good for the #CS students of my generation (1980s). Much later in 2005, MIT published the video lectures by Abelson and Sussman.

Today's students are just as fortunate, if not more, for having access to #INRIA #OCaml, along with the textbook and the video lectures by Clarkson of #Cornell.

Whenever someone touts about IDEs, I would interject, "My favourite #IDE is Emacs." I get either dismissive smirks, derisive laughters, or disgusted frowns.

This is rather vexing, considering that #UNIX was the world's first "integrated development environment" and #Emacs was a close second. Anyone who has used Emacs on UNIX via a VT100 knows it.
