Anti proprietary software manifesto (part 1).
A message for everyone, but above all for those who, despite being here, are using iOS or MacOS:
MacOS and iOS are proprietary garbage, aimed at uneducated and ignorant people who don't know anything about computers, operating systems or IT. This garbage is based on secret code, which cannot be audited or syndicated. The Apple ecosystem works like a kind of walled garden, where users can't grow new plants, nurture and care for existing ones, use the tools they want or remove weeds, and from which they can't even get out, vegetating there like serfs of the soil, with their most basic rights, such as those concerning their security and privacy and the choice of software and platforms to use, or those relating to changing operating systems and the syndication, modification and distribution of source code, severely curtailed, or even eliminated.
In this highly centralized and closed ecosystem, Apple plays the role of supposedly benevolent dictator, watching over everything, controlling everything and storing in its silos/cloud everything that the serfs of the land produce, including their personal data and that of the people with whom they interact...
Now for the supreme irony: to my amazement, Nostr is full of people who, despite using closed, secret code, proprietary and totally centralized systems and infrastructures, come here to boast that they are now free and independent because they are using a decentralized, community-based and open source social network.
Let's stop being hypocritical or naive: using a free social network is a drop of water in the ocean that leads to the harbor of freedom, independence, innovation, autonomy, collaboration and emancipation. We need to do much more than that: it is imperative to use free software exclusively, starting with operating systems...
Using Nostr from iOS, MacOS or Windows is like using LibreOffice or GIMP on a proprietary operating system, like trading Bitcoins only to convert it all into fiat currency or like boasting about the conquered freedom when you've never got out of prison.

Uma mensagem para todos mas, sobretudo, para os que, não obstante por aqui andarem, usam iOS ou MacOS:
MacOS e iOS é lixo proprietário, destinado a pessoas incultas e ignorantes, que nada percebem de computadores, sistemas operativos ou informática. Esse lixo é feito com base em código secreto, não auditável nem sindicável. O ecossistema Apple funciona como uma espécie de jardim murado, onde os utilizadores não podem cultivar novas plantas, fazer crescer e tratar as que já existem, utilizar as ferramentas que entenderem ou eliminar ervas daninhas, e do qual não conseguem, sequer, sair, nele vegetando como autênticos servos da gleba, com os seus direitos mais básicos, como os relativos à sua segurança e privacidade e de escolha do software e plataformas a utilizar, ou os respeitantes à mudança de sistema operativo e à sindicância, modificação e distribuição do código fonte, gravemente coarctados, ou mesmo eliminados.
Neste ecossistema, altamente centralizado e fechado, a Apple desempenha o papel de ditador pretensamente benevolente, tudo vigiando, tudo controlando e armazenando nos seus silos/nuvem tudo quanto os servos da gleba produzam, incluindo os seus dados pessoais e das pessoas com as quais interajam...
Agora a suprema ironia: para minha estupefacção, o Nostr está pejado de gente que, não obstante estar a usar sistemas e infra-estruturas fechados, de código secreto, proprietários e totalmente centralizados, vem para aqui gabar-se de que, agora sim, é livre e independente, pois passou a usar uma rede social descentralizada, comunitária e de código aberto.
Deixemos de ser hipócritas ou ingénuos: usar uma rede social livre é uma gota de água no oceano que conduz ao porto da liberdade, independência, inovação, autonomia, colaboração e emancipação. É preciso fazer-se muito mais que isso: usar, exclusivamente, software livre, a começar pelos sistemas operativos...
Utilizar o Nostr a partir de iOS, MacOS ou Windows é como utilizar o LibreOffice ou o GIMP num sistema operativo proprietário, como transaccionar Bitcoin apenas para converter tudo em moeda fiduciária ou como vangloriar-se da liberdade conquistada quando nunca se saiu da prisão.

Earlier today I was able to choose "Latest" in my feed, as opposed to Trending or Nostr-Highlights.
When I try to do it now, Latest is not an option.
Can you tell me how to choose Latest? Often I just want to see a straight feed, I don't want curated content.
