I find Bladerunner 2049 frustrating, because I *almost* love it.

The characters, themes, acting, and the overall plot structure are great, imo.

However, villains give melodramatic exposition monologues, villains leave heroes alive for no reason other than the plot needs them to, important things are left thinly guarded for no reason other than the plot needs the heroes or villains to easily get at them, etc. In other words, there are distracting writing/execution issues in what could otherwise be a masterpiece.

The first time I watched it, I didn't love it. It did stick with me though; I think about it sometimes, for years afterward. And watching it a second time I appreciated it more, but still was frustrated by the same things.

What does everyone else feel about it?

I did not take the jab, I did not wear a mask, I did not "comply" or stay home, my kids and wife never wore masks or took jabs, I went on no-mandate marches, I donated to causes for freedom of health decisions...

- But - I will never know for sure what I would have done if I were required to take the jab to keep my job, or have gone to jail if I were in the military for not complying.

I talked a big game, I refused to go into buildings for clients who required it, but I really don't know for sure if I would have held out until an employer fired me or have been put on trial and thrown in jail over the jab. Its impossible to prove I would have taken that kind of stand without having been faced with it.

New Debian 13 is great!! I really enjoy the new GNOME, and I like the fact that now I actually only a small number of extras/addons on top of the baseline. That gives me comfort that if I'm installing this from scratch it would do well out of the box.

I recklessly installed this over existing Debian 12. The install wasn't as smooth as hoped - it bricked it a bit during installation and GnomeSession wouldn't start, since I had some old config in `~/.config/xkb/`, but nothing that ctrl+alt+F2 wouldn't solve 😉

If you are reckless like me, then you just need to replace the word

"bookworm" in `/etc/apt/sources.list` with the word "trixie", save and then run

`sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo apt autoremove` and reboot.

Part 2: Enjoy the Game

Enjoy the Game is a gaming store in the centre of Riga that also houses a video-game museum. Entry to the museum section is €10, and inside you’ll find true gems from the history of gaming.

And it’s not just for looking - several consoles are plugged in and ready to play. You can fire up the classic Donkey Kong, Capcom’s Final Fight from 1989, or battle some aliens in Atari’s Defender II, just to name a few.

The tour (which isn’t really a tour, it’s only one room) is self-guided and you can spend as much time as you want.

If you’re coming with a partner who’s not really into video games, there are several second hands and vintage shops (Humana, Northern Grip Vintage Store,…) on the same street. That should buy you some time. ☺️
