Jesus and bitcoin

I love everything about this. Already working on a lot of these features based on our last convo but everything is so cohesive / simple here. You def set a high bar, excited to build further in this direction!

Cool ownership model

Mutiny doesn't use Amboss. But I personally store all of my bitcoin as Hydro credits.

Running mutiny. Nice mempool we're having isn't it?

Introducing Mutiny Gifts: Onboard someone to Bitcoin by simply showing them a QR code. Once they scan the QR code, it will load up Mutiny Wallet on the web, allowing them to redeem the Bitcoin.

https://blog.mutinywallet.com/mutiny-gifts/

Mutiny Gifts is self-custodial through the whole process. Funds stay in your wallet until the receiver redeems it. You can revoke access at any time if the gift is not claimed. All thanks to the magic of NWC.

Gifts is our first Mutiny+ paid-only feature. Anyone can redeem a gift, but you need to be a paid user or self-hoster to create one.

Here's a gift for a lucky person! Be the first one to scan this from your mobile phone and you'll receive 50k sats.

nostr:note1y7p366h7f08jywng2qlzze556n0nvmccj3kug2f0yadwlk3l6xfsapr73p this was one of our earliest ideas when we started talking about doing Mutiny on the web: what if you could onboard someone to bitcoin with a gift link? wallet AND sats in one click

I would love if someone explained to me like a laymen why Mutiny is self custody and Wallet of Satoshi is not? I am very new to the game. My main place to buy bitcoin is nostr:npub1cashappn03s3cl2ljsdntv0v28e2um5lgx4vjctqjt23pcwzjhsqmtdg5l for reference.

Also, how would I host and connect my own lightning node? Are there advantages to it? I have an umbrel set up. I cannot find any place to just go and watch a 10 hour video so that I have full comprehension of this. lol.

With Mutiny your lightning node runs in your web browser or app (not on Mutiny's servers, actually on your local device). With Wallet of Satoshi, they're running a lightning node on their servers and you just have an account with them (hence custodial).

The advantage of running your own node on something like Umbrel is that it's always on so you can receive 24/7. To receive on Mutiny you need to have Mutiny open (because that's when the node is running).

Downside of running your own node is managing liquidity, which is automated with Mutiny.

Still a lot of tradeoffs with all approaches.
