Someone asks you how much Monero you have. What is your answer?

👇🏻

Monero leaves no trace and governments are afraid of that. Money laundering and terrorist financing are pretextual reasons. It's all about total financial control and citizen surveillance. Monero protects against surveillance, financial control and banking crises.

Monero is financial self-defence.

At the weekend, I went to a bakery and ordered five filled Berliners and a sandwich. “That makes a total of €13.35, please.” I held out a hundred-euro bill to her. "Unfortunately, I can’t accept it.” I laughed. "I'm sorry, what? You don’t want my money?” “Sorry, we are only allowed to accept 20 and 50 euro notes.” “No 5, 10, 100, 200, and 500 euro notes?” it occurred to me. I replied, “But that’s legal tender.” "I'm sorry." Afterwards, I said goodbye politely and left the bakery. — The fight against cash is in full swing.

We should all work to achieve a circular economy with Monero.

Collateral Murder

On 5th April 2010 WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in Iraq. We wouldn't know about this without Julian Assange. #FreeAssangeNOW

CBDC, Digital Euro

Guidelines from the BSI, the Federal Office for Information Security, Germany

Money should be programmable.

Payments can only be triggered under certain conditions, e.g. you need the right social score, CO2 score, medical score, political score, etc.

There will be area restrictions, i.e. wallets will only work within certain areas. You cannot spend your money outside of these areas.

It should be possible to confiscate money, e.g. to control the money supply. Today you had 100,000 EUR, tomorrow only 10,000 EUR.

There should be different wallets with different functionalities. Small wallets with a few KYC and large wallets with full KYC.

But you still need a phone number to use Signal. Best privacy is achieved with no phone number at all. https://signal.org/blog/phone-number-privacy-usernames/

VPN, Virtual Private Networks

Switching from Mullvad to IVPN

👇🏻

Mullvad is registered in Sweden, which means he is based in the EU and in one of the 14-Eyes states that monitor and spy on their citizens to an extreme degree.

Mullvad has servers running everywhere in 14-Eyes states.

Privacy veteran Kuketz writes: “Mullvad currently uses Google for its email communications. I think this is inappropriate for a privacy-oriented VPN provider.” [1]

Mullvad works together with Amazon. [2] I wonder if they didn't have to promise the NSA something in return?

Strong cooperation with Firefox, not for long: Mullvad is allowed to use the tracking octopus Firefox browser (they have modified it, allegedly improved it), but Firefox now offers the Mullvad VPN as its “own” VPN. (Privacy X says that the Firefox browser can no longer be trusted - for other reasons). Firefox comes from the USA (5-Eyes), with all the obligations and secure connections that apply there.

After a long search, my favourite is IVPN. Not ideal either (registered in Gibraltar = UK = 5-Eyes); the team is supposed to be based in Berlin. However, they appear to be motivated activists, including the team (the only one actually), appear transparent, annual audits - exemplary. [3] IVPN accepts Monero, no personal info needed.

This super-researched map is very informative (see link). [4]
