Censorship resistance eh? Gotta love it.
Dunno. Snort Social and Satellite Earth don't seem to have any block or mute functions at all.
Not going to be installing phone-apps for this thing since I never want to use it on my phone, phone has tiny screen and crappy keyboard.
If it won't work in a browser I don't want it, so perhaps that's limiting my options for a good mute.
Most bitcoin mining machines will never discover even one single block. The number of mining machines being produced is higher than the number of blocks being found.
What other hardware do we make which mostly never fulfills it's purpose?
Most fire extinguishers never extinguish a fire I suppose.
Anything else?
The moderation is the reason that people like and use it. Nostr may be about censorship resistance, but that is not the only possible type of forum, nor even the best kind usually. Censorship resistance leads to spam and bullying and anti social behaviour.
Activitypub is about decentralized moderation: your own community should be running the server and sharing the moderation load.
In Activitypub it's deliberately not the burden of the individuals to perform moderation, it's a responsibility delegated to community managers.
Picking an instance is picking your moderation team.
If you don't like the moderation team, pick a different one. Or run a server yourself. Mastodon probably isn't the best for a single user server. Over-engineered for that. Gotosocial is very easy to install if you want a single user instance.
But most people don't want a single user instance, they want to share the moderation responsibilities with the community.
Impossible. There is no way for the bitcoin price to unexpectedly hit 100k, because I for one expect it.
Why would musicians want their music on Spotify? Seems like that place just rips you off and doesn't even pay you unless you're famous.
Blocked those spammers from being able to send me email when they tried to pretend I had to register in order to change my email preferences.
Fucking spammers, screw them.
MMT is just a description of how fiat money systems operate. If it is marxism, then the current fiat money systems are marxist.
I don't see how it is Marxist though myself, it certainly isn't in any way trying to put the workers in control of the means of production.
It just explains how governments create fiat money from thin air and how that money is controlled and destroyed through taxation.
Finishing off that confused stuttering ramble with "I don't think there's anything confusing there" is the masterstroke. 😆
But you CAN HAVE George Takei on mastodon.social. The fact that it censored a well-known alt journalist, #CaitlinJohnstone, shoud send a chill up independent #socialmedia's collective 'spine'. https://mastodon.social/@Caitoz/109701432074515270
Ps. This IS NOT just a mastodon.social problem.

ActivityPub/Mastodon isn't about censorship-resistance, quite the opposite, it's about decentralized moderation.
If you don't like your moderation team's actions, move to a different server. Or start your own.
Looks like she just decided to leave and stay on Twitter instead more than a year ago though.
Sounds like spam, why would you post such things in a bitcoin forum like Nostr.
Your own Lightning node would be more use than your own Nostr Relay. Lightning needs at least a few hundred quid tied up in channels though, and it ain't easy to manage them yet.
Glad zaps are working out better then spotify but it's a low bar innit.
If you post your messages only to your own relay then in theory you could delete them after a couple of weeks the way you wanted. But they'd only delete from your own relay, if they were boosted onto other relays they wouldn't be deleted from there.
Possible you'd be reducing discoverability a lot posting only to your own private little relay.
I think the culture here is more to post to multiple relays for redundancy rather than bother to run your own. They're just dumb drop-boxes. If you post to half a dozen on them anyway having another that you run yourself doesn't seem to add much.
Glad you're liking Umbrel.
Like the LLM machines, they are layers of transformer networks sandwiched between layers of attention networks.
Unlike LLMs, the music machines are trained on music not language.
The phrase for describing both/all is Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, GPT, even though "GPT" from OpenAI itself is only an LLM, and there are many other types of pre-trained transformers not trained on language.
Computer jargon is always stupid.
Interesting. I associate "music producer" more with DJs mucking about in Garage Band but I guess that's just coz I meet more of them than actual successful industry executives.
What's wrong with "musician"? Or I guess "producer" seems more common than "maker" in the biz.
Using TOR is gonna make is slower and more difficult to run, but if you don't use TOR you'll only have to rebuild over TOR when the government makes it illegal.
Realistically, probably I'd stay home on the sofa and go down with the metaphorical ship at home rather than the wet rubber ship at sea.
I'd sort of abstractly wish to have had the foresight and drive to leave, as I was murdered in my home, but I just don't have the incredible tenacity of someone prepared to get dressed and leave the house just to avoid getting murdered.
