Advancing humanity while staying excellent to each other.

Oh cool. I somehow missed that.

Death industry is very large, everyone participates at some point.

I wish there was non custodial prediction market on Bitcoin. In the meantime I think the best alternative is Polymarket ( https://polymarket.com )

It is using usdc on polygon which is some Ethereum layer 2 or whatever. They claim it is non custodial and user has private key in the browser and can export it. No need to use metamask or any desktop software. So the only trusted part is switching from Bitcoin to poly usdc that has to go through something like sideshift or similar where they have custody during the exchange.

Hmm I wonder if we could build prediction market on Liquid?

Decentralized Github.

"Radicle is an open source, peer-to-peer code collaboration stack built on Git. Unlike centralized code hosting platforms, there is no single entity controlling the network. Repositories are replicated across peers in a decentralized manner, and users are in full control of their data and workflow."

Design looks good to me. Written in Rust, uses modern cryptography (Ed25519 for identity, noise protocol for metadata communication). Architecture looks reasonably simple and extensible.

All that can be done already with multisig. And as with multisig the recipient is the one generating the receiving address. You can't force me to generate recursive covenants as receiving address any more than generating multisig with you as a recevng address. And the alternative without L1 development is that most people will use custody. Custody = we are back at KYCed permissiones banks.

No it's not, it's important context that many people don't know. Compared to segwit and Schnorr that were huge. You can reason much more easily about small code change. Of course that itself doesn't make it safe, but it is important to know this.

I am sad to hear that. As Andrew Poelstra says OP_CAT (with added limitations to fix the issues why it was disabled by Satoshi), is probably one of the smallest and safest soft forks we can do. It is just a few lines of code. If we can't do even this, it's very bad. We have to overcome the ptsd trauma from segwit activation drama.. All these recently proposed opcodes are MUCH smaller scope of changes that Taproot or Segwit softforks. And we can't frweez development of L1 of we want to support self custody for more people. It's either L1 continues to develop of custody solutions for most users.

The Dynastic Cycle and the Fourth Turning are all basically the same thing. It's built into civilization, regardless of era or culture.

There are debt/money growth cycles, law/bureaucracy growth cycles, and periods of reset for both of them.

During the growth phase, debt accumulates, and laws build upon laws as bureaucrats become bloated and detached. Even well-meaning people in power can't fix it; every attempt to fix things just adds another layer of debt and legal complexity.

And then after a long enough time, it blows up. It could be slow or it could be fast, but it gets fucking rekt. It could be a lost war, a major internal revolution, or a slow massive decline and then a major populist democratically-elected landslide pivot.

The new government emerges, as order out of chaos, with elements of authoritarianism. The ideal scenario is that this newfound unity is enough to create change in the right direction, and then decentralize itself to re-establish rule of law and individual rights. The more common scenario, however, is that this newfound unity is not let go by those who claimed it, and it leads to authorianism/communism/fascism and decades of problems. In other words, the revolution against the decaying chaos is easy, but sticking the landing toward the re-emergence of freedom and productivity is the hard part.

That's why nothing stops this train. We're in the debt cycle rotation/reset, and eventually the bureaucratic rotation/reset as well. It takes billions of dollars to build a thousand feet of high-speed rail in the USA. Europe flails around on energy optics. Politicians become satire. Japan is stuck in yield curve control. This can last a long time, but the tailspin is nearly irrecoverable.

Incrementalism doesn't work at this phase. The event horizon is passed. Rather, the focus becomes on what order will emerge from the chaos. Is it rational order, or is it even worse than what came before?

The answer to that question, is what people have a big part in shaping.

We don't have time for that.

Bitcoin is an amazing success story in open source software and community. Let's not let it stagnate, but keep it vibrant by improving its already amazing properties with restored (and renewed) script!

Use your Bitcoin. We saturated the curious and early adopters. Now bring the utility.

Great article by Roy Sheinfeld.

I would add this:

1. In western countries "better saving tech" is also great utility

2. Cross border remittances are great utility

3. Big yes to connecting creators (musicians, writers..) with consumers more directly w/o middleman. This has great potential. In these segments the middlemans are taking too much. But also we can connect creators and consumers more directly - fountain.fm is not just for consuming podcasts but also for communicating with the podcasts. Let's spread this model to other intustries.

4. Big strength of Bitcoin comes from the fact that it cannot be easily confiscated or devalued. But this is something people don't appreciate until it's too late. Paradoxically people in coconut countries has advantage here because they more clearly understand the issues with fiat money.

I added NIP05 to my nostr account using the whole domain (without username). So now I have a nice pinkish checkmark and "urza.cc" after my nickname in profile (at least that is how it looks on Damus).
