The NIP should have been named 007 though! This tool feels like it was created by Q, so that Bond always has a secure way to store keys! đ
Nostr client support expands so fast, itâs incredible. Newest release in the App Store is Nostore which holds your keys secure to be used in various apps supporting NIP-07.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, top-ups are probably the most intuitive. That's even a step forward from the current one-time fee models IMO.
> LN-only recurring payments without a 3rd party
This is exactly what I'm aiming for with the spec, especially focused on self-custodial wallets.
See this test account, where a 1 sat push payment was done every ~10 minutes: https://se.oak-node.net/profile?pk=NPUB17XS6KVLERTM384UA6ZDY0ZV5HJPPL32832K55FD330L2TA3S6H0S8HV3SR
It needs a "helper package" on the sender node to schedule the recurring sending, a glorified cron job that triggers a LNURL payment with a memo.
I'm open to ideas, though, if there's a simpler way to do it.
Thatâs nice, now better understand what you are doing. If itâs a cronjob on my node, I am fine! Well done! đ
Good night, fellow nostriches! âźïž
I love markdown, but I prefer text only within Nostr. If markdown than only bold/italic but no headings and other distracting things. And no links!!!
I write a lot as part of my job. I have contributed to several books, written some professional articles and therefore used written language quite a lot. But in the last few weeks something new has come along...
Let me explain: I am in a team of Damus translators, and the discussions in the team are very enriching for me. I haven't dealt so intensively with the intricacies of language, individual words, their meanings, and nuances since my school days. It's really fun.
Language is a gift that allows us to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas with others. It enables us to communicate, connect, and collaborate with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. The power of language lies not only in its ability to convey information but also in its capacity to shape our thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether we use language to write, speak, or translate, it allows us to explore the world, challenge our assumptions, and learn from others. Through language, we can express our creativity, connect with others, and make a difference in the world.
Thanks to #[1] who started everything, thanks to my fellow German translators #[3] & #[2] and of course all the other team members for other languages! Thanks for sharing this gift, it's great to work with you guys!
Nostur TestFlight Beta đ
To paid relay operators:
I'm working on a concept for how service providers could add recurring LN subscriptions and I'd like your feedback.
I already drafted a spec and coded a demo for something that IMO should work with current LN tech (BOLT11 and LN Addresses).
Spec: https://oak-node.net/doc/trunk/doc/ons/ons-4.md
Demo: https://se.oak-node.net
Let me know what you think. Does it make sense? Do you see any major problems with it? Is there something I missed?
Thanks!

Generally speaking, I like the idea of a recurring fee. As for now or at least as long as Nostr is growing quickly, a one-time-fee should be sufficient. Newer nostriches will pay for the early innovators, I am fine with that. However, in the long run a recurring fee will be needed.
But I think as a customer I would prefer top-ups, as long as there are no lightning-only recurring payments without a 3rd party.
What are your plans #[2] about recurring payments? I have seen in the nostream database that there is a balance field, I suppose it is planned to be used for a recurring payment, isn't it?
Ganz ehrlich, was soll so eine misogyne Aussage? Ist das wirklich notwendig?
Yes, maybe, I just think transferring Bitcoin is the smarter approach. POW just produces heat (which canât be transferred or be reused), with lightning a Bitcoin can be transferred without any additional POW and helps the receiver (in this case relay operator) to run the service.
But I still like to create notes with many zeros using gossip. This little delay makes a post special to me. It is magical. Few understand though. đ
POW didnât take off: #[6]âs POW relay was hardly used. Gossips POW notes are seldom seen, I have used both, but it was not adapted by a critical mass. Maybe there will be a window of opportunity once more, but I doubt it!
Itâs time we take control back into our own hands!
This is a good reason to run a Nostr relay!
One the one hand I don't like the word "hysteria" in this case. According to Merriam-Webster a hysteric person is an "overemotional or unstable person" â I don't see why this should be applied as a whole to everybody who follows science and acts accordingly.
That brings me to the second part: One the other hand it is quite clear (to me) that there is imminent grave danger. Yes, the planet (and maybe some species) will survive. But the temperature rise is unprecedented. Really unprecedented! Maybe only comparable to major events that killed almost all inhabitants on earth (think dinosaurs). Yes, individual humans are able to adapt, but humans as a whole can't adapt quickly. An individual human lives decades and usually don't change much within a lifespan. Cities are built for centuries and societies emerged during an even longer timespan. Rising sea levels and rising temperatures will create changes, most people can't adapt to. It is very probable that those changes will cause uprisings, violance and war.
I don't think that centralized action is the only solution, but maybe a part of it. In the end also centralized action needs to have decentralized supporters (at least in a democracy). So building awareness of the imminent danger is important. And that's what climate activists do.
Okay, that's a good point. Thanks to make this clear, now I understand your point much better!
