I think most of us in the states have been taught for a generation now that safety can only be obtained through centralization.
“We must be permitted to have an account on someone else’s server — that’s how computers work, right?”
The headwinds for anyone who wants to maintain control of their privacy or property are substantial. Most people don’t face a substantial upside to justify taking that on.
If we want to make the argument that people should make a different choice, we can either lower the risk or demonstrate a sufficiently compelling upside.
Nostr seems capable of doing both — but we aren’t there just yet.

Thinking is doing more involved spreads as a weekly long-form (NIP-23) note and/or individual short readings for zaps.

I like the level of chaos that exists on nostr. It is not always comfortable, but it is useful.
Useful for dismantling the world of internet monoliths.
Useful for retraining us to own our data again.
Useful for forcing us to examine our assumptions.
