Once you get bitcoin running and synchronized, check out Fulcrum.
It uses another 100GB or so of disk space for its indexes, and takes a day or so to sync too, but it is a super fast electrum compatible server that makes mempool.space run great and is a great electrum server to point wallets like Sparrow and various mobile wallets at.

I lied, I couldn’t resist the brainless bullshit on Twitter and this takes the cake.
Some of us lived through the ‘80s farming meltdown in the Midwest. Nobody fucking came to save the farmers. That’s why farmers aren’t stupid enough to keep all their liquidity in a single poorly run bank. In fact, many of them maintain self custody of large portions their assets until the day they sell their harvest. And they are skeptical of easy money loans for things they can’t afford.
I’d love the tech companies to learn some lessons from the farmers because competing with a bunch of drunken frat boys with no regard for profit and cash flow is a real pain in the ass for people running fiscally responsible software businesses.
I won’t be able to resist VC tears if mismanaged companies start missing payrolls this week.
I’ll be surprised if that happens though. FDIC will probably push out 50% of uninsured deposits this week and only the most incompetently run businesses will end up having real trouble.
Seems clear the government isn’t going to do anything dramatic until they see some real contagion.

Yeah, I hadn’t looked at the stables for about 24 hours and it looks like the recovered a bunch since then. Fascinating to see how the casinos breakdown when SHTF.
Pretty sure the various stable coins are all disconnected from reality since many aren’t being traded over the weekend and that has distorted the various markets.
But I’m looking forward to someone who has been watching this closely do a deep dive to explain to us all exactly what happened.

Running and maintaining software is no joke. It is a very difficult profession and it deserves to be compensated well.

Nostr really does remind me of the RSS/blogging days, and the Usenet days before it. And even the early days of Reddit and Twitter.
Back then you always got reminded that you were being compulsive if you kept going back even when there was nothing new to see.
The algorithms just keep feeding you the next thing they predict you’ll engage with. The algorithms also search far and wide for things you haven’t directly asked to see but which they know keep people engaged. Those things tend to be negative.
