Tor

Afaik one guardian of the federation lost access to their domain. The the domain was somehow contained in the data that got hashed to the federation ID, so they couldn't just swap out the domain. So the federation was still working with the remaining guardians, but really slow and unreliable.

Fedimint fixed this now, so it shouldn't happen again.

Great to see nostr:nprofile1qqst4qyeqenw7zm0fwjsty68h6cnys5jre2xd8ngqpjv5a2j26s78fspydmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef08ankcmmzv9kr6ctvds34werc running a Cashu mint @ mint.coinos.io

They've been around very long, so feels like the most trustworthy mint till now.

Wow, seems like the inforensics people are already on it. At least its open source.

Way harder to attack. You can run relays behind Tor or pay for hosting with bitcoin, see Piratebay, libgen etc.

Some do, but usually not. There are aggregating relays that serve events from many other relays. (filter.)nostr.wine is a very good (paid) relay which is nearly sufficient on its own.

Adding ~10 relays is a good bandwidth/battery usage compromise on mobile, on desktop you can easily add more.

There is also ongoing effort to make smaller/personal relays more useful by querying from relays specified by the authors IIUC (outbox model). Gossip does this for example.

Running your own relay is also good if you want to have a complete backup of your events, as long term storage on public relays is not guaranteed.

Gossip is a good native desktop client

Nostrudel is my fav web client

The infrastructure now seems to be ready with lightning and eCash. Considering how much better it is in comparison to fiat rails, adoption will hopefully grow soon.

One of the most renowned traditional and historic taverns in Jena is the "Zum Roten Hirsch," which now also accepts Bitcoin via nostr:npub1kwacf2fhd6luun8793crnrv60mgc888z5dygazn3jy2g33uzkrlq4zgz5e. This building was first mentioned by Jena's city chroniclers in 1509. The old wooden beams, narrow corridors, and slanted walls characterize the charm of this ancient house. Its cozy atmosphere has made it synonymous with "Jenaer hospitality."

📍 Holzmarkt 10, 07743 Jena, Germany

The tavern offers hearty, traditional German cuisine, good cheer, and a fresh pint of Pilsner, along with exquisite regional wines, classic dishes, and seasonal specialties. A particular highlight is the Spiked Venison Roast in Wild Mushroom Sauce, served with cranberries, red cabbage, and dumplings.

Do you add your customers to nostr:nprofile1qqs98ajcs64s5wxy2x8hdc87mk6eh90wqxlwtrpe6l0af2e8w2lc6vqpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtcgs5sde? It's the most important app to find places that accept bitcoin IMO.

True, but this seems to be going in the right direction with Nvidia drivers, steam etc.

Would be interesting to run a writing style comparison analysis on a note/tweet set to show links between X users, npubs and burner npubs.

If Nostr becomes bigger I'd bet some institutions would do this to dox nyms as a business, maybe kind of a Nostr "Chainalysis".
