Should I block AI web crawlers on Oddbean?
On oddbean.com I see a *lot* of web crawling traffic from AI bots like GPTBot hoovering up nostr notes presumably for training purposes. I guess it's probably one of the easiest nostr sites to crawl since everything is rendered as plain HTML and they don't need to execute JS code to query relays.
To avoid wasting bandwidth I decided to use the following method to soft-block them (honour-system robots.txt): https://coryd.dev/posts/2024/go-ahead-and-block-ai-web-crawlers
You could argue they're just wasting my resources and won't bring any visitors or benefit the nostr community in any way. On the other hand, I guess they can/will access this data in some other way, and maybe the world-at-large gets some modicum of benefit from better AI models (?).
Thoughts? #asknostr
Maybe it helps Nostr developers if future gen models "know" more about Nostr, or improves llms for content moderation?
Yeah official integration would be great too
If you have no fiat you need to spend bitcoin
Yeah, my setup just evolved like this, not sure if it makes that much sense like this. Nix bitcoin doesn't use docker, it uses nix which is essentially a text config file (like dockerfile) which the OS uses to build itself Kind of
I guess it depends on your preferences, docker is probably easier to manage (updating, restarting etc..) than native. I run bitcoind native and some services using it in docker containers.
Nix Bitcoin is also a really cool concept https://nixbitcoin.org/
This is a underrated design goal! Love to see websites that don't push CPU load by 10% :D
Just deployed our new website at https://skhron.eu/
Please check it out and share your feedback in comments - we will zap anyone with 21 sats for taking your time

Large empty blue space on vanadium android looks weird, maybe make it a bit smaller?
You can use the boltz plugin to receive lightning and swap to liquid bitcoin. Or use phoenixd as funding source which also needs 0 liquidity management.

Some clients allow you to ask relays to delete an event, but no guarantees they actually delete is. In fact there are relays intentionally ignoring delete requests to archive everything.
Ok, for a bitcoin company, right now, support may really be a bit overwhelmed. Reading this all the time though.
Oh yeah, same thing😂
Yeah but what about not obviously lying to customers?
I mean they could just say it'll take around x days....
Is it a "large amount" of requests if it is constant, or is it just a normal amount and your single support agent can't handle it :D
Why does every support mail ever say this lmao

Not sure how binding these IMF conditions are, but see the second screenshot.
Good luck stopping http://robodexarjwtfryec556cjdz3dfa7u47saek6lkftnkgshvgg2kcumqd.onion
