Working on https://oak-node.net

Impossible to tell, because "zaps" are de-coupled from actual sats.

I can send you LN sats, without them appearing as "zaps".

You can send yourself "zaps", with sats moving from one LN wallet to another (wash-zapping). With your acct (can be detected) or from sockpuppet accounts (cannot be detected).

You can send yourself "zaps", with NO sats moving from / to any LN wallet (fake zaps). From your acct, or from sockpuppets.

Since "zap amount" is now a vanity metric in many clients, people are incentivized to rig the numbers in their favor.

So, it wouldn't surprise me if the real total is lower than both numbers.

If you run your own node, you can send "anon zaps" by simply liking a post. Works in all clients.

IMO the same way blocking implies a default of "allow", clients should have a way to set the default to "deny".

Otherwise a bot army (or swathes of white knights defending m'lady?) could cause anyone's inbox who was mentioned to blow up.

New ones can pile on faster than anyone can block them.

Makes sense, thanks.

I thought it was meant to run every time when I saw normalize_urls() called on every startup. But it does return if the flag is set to true, so it only normalizes once.

Instead of doing it in the DB, why not normalizing the URLs before connecting? Or after the queries with relays return them from the DB?

Common with other clients too.

From what I've seen, due to unreliable (or slow?) NIP-05 hosts.

Some clients are also eager and check too often.

True.

Clients have to get better at telling users if their reply reaches (or even *can* reach) OP.

If OP only posts on paid relays, the only chance a reply reaches him, is if replyer shares a paid relay.

Right now clients just "fire and forget".

IMO they should disable the reply / react / repost btns if there are no shared relays with OP.

He does have a point.

> for others to interact with you, they too must pay the fee

Maybe a perk for paid members could be that (free) users are allowed to react / reply / repost / DM them on that relay?

In other words, free members can only write if its a reply / reaction to / etc to a paid member's note.

Probably because LND has 90% market share andits not a priority for them at the moment.

Noob question: What is missing?

I've seen the website, the spec, CLN regularly pushes updates. Node mgmt software like Ride The Lightning supports Offers.

(Never used BOLT12 myself, just had a cursory look)

Can it be used today? If not, what is missing?

Btw the spec itself is solid 👍

First I thought it's clunky and nobody will use it, but as you said, it is optional and mainly relevant for these LN Address bridges.
