The fact that Elon Musk's title is "Technoking" and Jack Dorsey's title is "Block Head", speaks volumes.

One is about ego, and one is not. But more importantly we can see the difference in their actions more than titles from there.

Elon wants to build Twitter or the shitty name "X" into the next WeChat, with himself as the leader. He has literally said this. I used to be able to report bots on Twitter easily for many years, but now I have to show a drivers' ID to report someone that copies my persona even as a 600k following paid blue check, and so I don't bother anymore, and therefore bots proliferate. And if you don't pay for reach, you get devalued. Only in the past few months have I had to show my ID to report my countless bot copiers if I want to report them on Twitter/X. And so their rate of removal has decreased. If my Nym differs a bit from my name, well LET'S FILE SOME TPS REPORTS!!!! (which wasn't previously the case). And so as bots proliferate, and as Musk fails to contain bots as he promised he would and bragged about with memes, he will instead reference his own self-created bot problem as a reason to require even more ID requirements and try to build his US version of the Chinese Communist Party WeChat app. This is exactly what governments do. In my professional opinion, after careful consideration, Elon Musk can ::check notes:: politely go fuck himself, and those who worship him should reconsider what exactly they show blind obedience toward.

Meanwhile, nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m helps improve the Bitcoin network and the Nostr network and has put capital into them in various ways, and Bitcoin and Nostr have no leader. The fact that Bitcoin and Nostr have no leader, is specifically why Jack puts time and capital into them. He funds many different companies, and for bitcoin, Cash App has been among the networks to incorporate Lightning early. Yes, Cash App deals with domestic compliance issues. But they are trying, and they are early. Their network can connect to many others, like an email provider using SMTP to connect to many others. They're open, they're trying. And now they are making Bitkey, which helps with self custody. They're certainly not a directional enemy of freedom in the way that Twitter/X has been.

Companies that incorporate open networks with various levels of compliance trump companies that purposely don't adopt open networks and instead push new ID requirements, in my book.

+10 Jack

-10 Elon

Any day of the week.

Yes, yes!!

Block 814621... is ordinals bs back ? Like thousands of these in this block. #bitcoin #mempool

The teachers in my nearby city of Portland, OR are probably going to strike starting this week ( not confirmed but deadline looms ). Portland is a city where the kids were out of school the longest in this country. I have many friends and family that work in the system ; they make it clear the kids were ruined by this absense. An entire generation of our State's youth caste aside.

And here we are on the brink of more school closure for these children, stressing already struggling families and setting these kids back yet again. I look on in utter disbelief as there is almost complete allegiance to the Portland Association of Teachers as they demand $200 million more than what the district can even possiboy offer ( the additional money doesnt exist!). The place that money would come from ? It would have to be higher taxation of the very community they are striking 'on behalf.' So if you are a struggling family that is now having to find daycare while the teachers picket, what do you do ?

I am embarrassed and ashamed for the State of Oregon if this strike goes through. End of rant 😮‍💨

I dont know how id bring myself to help certain people that ive conversed with when they inevitably need hard af, censorship resistant magic internet money...and they will.

I run my own node (I also use the new Zeus LSP mobile wallet ; its incredible). here is what I'd say:

1. You learn a lot about how lightning works. Opening channels, finding peers, tweaking fees...I find it awesome to know how things work under the hood.

2. You learn how to run your own node and more importantly you CAN run your own, in the case that the LSP model becomes too centralized and people need to route around that captured part of the network (what if ACINQ, Olympus and Wallet of Satoshi collude to drive up fees or will only whitelist certain transcation to route?).

3. You should face less fees due to there being less middle-men between you and spending/receiving your corn.

4. A node being online all the time is easier for sending / receiving payments as you are not reliant on the LSP to complete that process for you. If that LSP is down, you are screwed but if you have a node with 30 channels and a few channels are offline, your payments can still make it out/in from your other peers.

5. potential privacy concerns, as the LSP is gonna be able to see a lot of your transaction graph. using non-kyc and/or mixed utxos to open channels with LSP is recommended if privacy is important to you.

This will continue to send borrowing rates up for us peasants that do not have access to US treasury buybacks. Raising rates wont hurt banks now that they have exposure to treasury buybacks since March of this year so the conventional reason the price of money would need to be reduced by the Fed is irrelevant. But it will continue to make us all non-bank entities poorer. Inflation is only 'conquered' once we have taken a massive hair cut, with limited risk exposure to the existing financial system.
