Antifascist, anti-covid, anarchist, AuDHD. Queer and non-binary, she/they. A country house with too much going on: 3 adults and a kid, a garden and orchard, a donkey and a mare, chickens, house rabbits and guinea pigs and even a cat too. Living at the tip of the Kitsap Peninsula in the PNW, thank you to the Suquamish people who lived here before us.

Michael Jackson was a literal monster and y’all need to quit venerating Thriller.

Are you harvesting or planting the berries?

nostr:npub1st0jflta0zx78m3dhm00ujc2hul36xf6fs2r6t3zme5uk8s99cmq0kjq0p harvesting 🤤 although it’s maybe a good time to dig up the volunteers and pot them. Last fall we moved the raspberries to a new bed, but of course we didn’t get them all. If I manage to nurse them through the winter in pots up against the side of the house, I can give them out in the spring!

Why do my knees hurt so bad all of a sudden? What a mystery!

#adhd #sewing adventures: I was looking for something else when I found a piece of leather stuck to a lint roller. It was way softer than the jeans tag material I’d used last night, so I reprinted my stamp onto it, cut it down to size, and replaced the tag. I like the longer stitch length!

Seems like everyone in the northern hemisphere is doing the #Gardening Reckoning this weekend, so I’ll play along too.

The winners all grew well and gave (or are very close to giving) good food that I or my peeps enjoyed eating. Mine were: tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, eggplant, pepper (but maybe that’s a ? instead), strawberries, raspberries, pears, apples, squash, leeks, oregano, mint, rhubarb, and sunflowers.

The losers failed, more or less spectacularly. Onions, corn, potatoes (but they’re also a ?), peaches, nectarines, blueberries, spring brassicas, and spring carrots.

The ?’s were a mixed bag. They grew food, but we didn’t like it or there wasn’t remotely enough, or they haven’t gotten close enough to ripeness for me to call them a win. Those were the potatoes, melons, lettuce, green beans, dry beans, winter brassicas, winter carrots, and basil.

I learned so much!

nostr:npub13k6ze8sq0dhz6lrhvvcfgpr6ws7yv7t0w3jdhcpthttuxve4n4vqykc8ma yep! My bulk compost practically makes itself. But I’m still trying to get my kitchen compost pile to activate. I think I’ll have to fork it all out, and I might as well add cardboard when I put it back together and water it.

nostr:npub1esha7f4m7zfc7rlyg7ufeysw8prq76f6edjr7ajh686raeeg5gsqkt5fqz as a Horse Person, I’m of course drawn to movies that might have horses in them, and as soon as one appears, I must immediately evaluate the actor as a rider, etc. I imagine the geolocating hobby is the same - blah blah they’re talking, let’s get to an establishing shot outdoors already!

I’ve tamed the #tomato pile, whew. #HarvestSeason

nostr:npub1a8nm9m3648w6c3fla34pfhxrg2374qgkrsmlh6205x5vyfgmegmqmswstl maybe to tell you when to add stuff? There are a whole lot of full scale recipes for rice + stuff or porridge + stuff cooked in a rice cooker. That’s my completely ungoogled guess.

Will it be another flaming wheel rolling down the center lane? Will it be the delightful shock of *weed billboards, man* right after legalization, or will it be a new dystopian nightmare?

Sounds like the latter this time around 😂
