It's wonderful to get back a useable global feed based just on paying relays.
💡 Paying relays could do something similar with every subscriber pubkey in order to mirror the needed information and being able to know beforehand what it's going to be requested by the subscribers.
Requiring Authentication (NIP-42) to get DMs (kind4) would improve a bit the privacy.
It's no guarantee that nobody could access your metadata, but it's an improvement over what it's now.

Using nostr to access the API and the 'aggregator' being a relay seems as a natural choice to me.
Maybe some relays could specialize in offering nostr stats via COUNT.
What about using COUNT from NIP-45??
