People don't usually expect payment for products AFTER they give the product out for free.
I don't care if people work on this full time. It's a protocol my man. I don't see anyone concerned with the level of work happening for http. The protocol is defined. If the nostr repo never got another commit, nothing is stopping anyone from making a client for it. nostr doesn't need any more development. Kind 0 pretty much covers it.

I'm not entitled. There are a lot of clients already that are open source and they work fine as it currently stands. Even if all development for nostr completely stopped forever I could spin up one of now hundreds of open source clients on my own server. If anything hosts deserve ongoing payments, not devs.

There's a big difference between a centraly decided algorithm and a sort list. I don't hate algos. I just think most perpetuate noise.
I don't think it is. But nostr:npub12262qa4uhw7u8gdwlgmntqtv7aye8vdcmvszkqwgs0zchel6mz7s6cgrkj abused the algo to trend on purpose to make a point. Then primal manually banned him from trending and nostr blew up about muh censorship. The point is an open source algo is ripe for gaming it. Openly publicizing the algo would just lead to even more people gaming it.
Algos are pointless. They will be found out and games by those paying attention until the developers inevitably have to change it to prevent it being gamed.
This is precisely why yt videos change in format. The algo changes and creators change content to chase the algo, rather than focusing on the actual content.
ie. Algos are mostly noise.
