“‘He was targeting people based on their race. That is totally unacceptable,’ DeSantis said.”

Hey, Ron. It’s entirely acceptable in your party. The Republican Party in your state and every state across the US cultivates hate, fosters hate, and rewards hate based on race.

Whether it's eliminating or watering down Black history or gerrymandering to strip Black political power, the message Republicans are sending is clear. And people like this pick up on it.

Republicans in #Ohio are trying squash democracy by requiring ballot initiatives have a 60% majority for passage rather than a simple 50%. And they are trying to do this through a special election on August 8, a time when many people are busy with summer plans.

Please help spread the word and get out the vote. Here’s three ways to pitch in.

On one hand, we have Hunter, a private citizen. On the other, a former president, indicted 3 times, and charged with over 70 felonies, and more indictments and charges to come.

Which one of these guys will leave an indelible stain on our country? Which one tried to overthrow our government? Which one attacked our constitution and our democracy? Hold them both to account, but they’re hardly the same.

The week’s diverging news realities, depending on your cable channel-

I’m not repeating or posting a screenshot of his stupid words but the only thing Trump is “coming after” personally is donations for his legal defense.

He’s a coward and won’t do anything himself. He does mean to inspire other people to commit more crimes, though- people he couldn’t care less about. Not that they comprehend that.

nostr:npub1tf489l2mm4jgjxs5s9anxfx40vt0ptt99ls8yfs00t3t8vjkjntq4cnzuj When you put together 7 slates of fake electors and get them to file 7 sets of fake certifications in an effort to stop the counting of the authentic certified slates in an attempt to subvert the election to you, and with violence, that’s not covered by any of 1, 2, or 3. #TrumpIndictment

Standards in our country for Republicans have sunk so low that someone with the temperament of a four-year old and a track record of fraud and sexual abuse and who is under indictment for, among other things, trying to subvert an election and still making excuses for it is not only a viable candidate, but the leading candidate.

There is no First Amendment right to overturn an election, no matter what Trump says-

At this point, it might be quicker to list the Republicans who *aren’t* credibly accused of crimes.

Matthew DePerno is charged in Michigan voting machine scheme:

I'd love to see media use terminology that Trump hasn't rendered meaningless in the coming days.

They need to make sure the facts come across clearly. #TrumpIndictment

Remember when Republicans promised a crash if Joe Biden were elected president? Remember when Republicans promised that tax cuts for the wealthy would create jobs and give us GDP growth of 6%? Yes, those were lies.

That’s not to say things are perfect for everyone. We have a long way to go on it, but Biden has engineered a soft landing from a high level crisis and GOP leadership is in full panic mode.

Without a recession to exploit, the GOP has lost economic coherence-

Washington adopts historic new gun safety laws | Governor Jay Inslee

https://www.governor.wa.gov/news-media/washington-adopts-historic-new-gun-safety-laws

Are Democrats perfect? No. Nobody is claiming that, either. But we are the ones making progress and the party overall trying and succeeding in taking this on.

By claiming otherwise dishonesty, you hurt the election efforts of the very people were trying to put into office to make more progress and the organizers doing the work. There’s nothing progressive about that. 3/3

Only in Republican world can a man assault a reporter, get convicted, and go on to be governor yet a woman named Zooey Zephyr can be a threat to a roomful of men just by talking and end up thrown out of the legislature.

So tired of these people with mouths full of scripture but hearts full of hate.

I guess he had to stand his ground by standing on the neighbor's ground as he feared for his life and shoot a bunch of unarmed people. Good guy with a gun not found.

This is the living hell Republican politicians want us to live in. This is the Trumpian vision for America. Constant carnage and living in fear.

We must defeat this mentality and elect people willing to act to survive or drown in our apathy.

Texas: 5 people fatally shot, including 8-year-old, suspect at large, San Jacinto County Sheriff says-

https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/29/us/cleveland-texas-shooting/index.html

The idea that you need a gun for protection, because you’re going to save yourself from something or you’re going to save someone else from something, because there’s a good guy with a gun saving lives, needs to end if our country and society are to ever make any progress.

Because this is how they get used the vast majority of the time, or by law enforcement wrongly shooting people to death or to devastating injury.

Too many people with too many guns- this is what you get.

Back in the Senate, John Fetterman isn’t skipping a beat-

“Lawmakers shouldn’t be able to profit off of the same companies they’re regulating.”

Tell your own Senators to support this.

John Fetterman got a round of applause from Democrats as he returned to the Senate-

He also introduced bipartisan legislation that would ban lawmakers from owning or trading stocks.
