Another #catstr stealing the dogstr’s bed

Every time someone sees Bitcoin stickers in my work truck, they try shilling some shitcoin or meme coin to me and then get offended when I say “no I’m good, made that mistake enough”

Hello and welcome. Yes and no… sometimes it depends on what your doing… you gotta remember, nostr isn’t a platform, it’s a protocol like email or the internet so there are social media apps like damus, primal, amethyst. There are streaming apps like zap stream, wavlake. meetings apps like nostr nest, cornychat, hivetalk. Messaging apps like Oxchat, blogging like hablo and blogstack, and so on. Personally I use damus primarily for my personal profile when on my phone and nostrudel on my computer for social media, oxchat for DMs. I use primal for social media for my podcast, flare to share videos sometimes, and fountain to share my podcasts.

With the influx of newbies, is there a newer resource available to send new nostriches to for how-to relay surfing than nostr.how or is that still the most current? #asknostr

There is https://nostr.how and there might be something on https://nostrapps.com too if you ever have a question you can also ask the community and tag the post with #asknostr, a lot of the developers that designed the different apps are always around and if all else fails, someone can probably answer you questions and help you or even steer the developer that designed it answer the question

That is weird, maybe it is just timing out and throwing a bad gateway error

Hi Dan and welcome to nostr. Easiest way to connect is to search hashtags on topics that interest you ( #grownostr is a good starting point) when you find stuff that’s cool, like, comment, and follow the creators. You should also post stuff that you like with good hashtags on a consistent basis and you’ll get a good following too. Once you get used to the app you are using, you should test one of the other great apps also running on nostr to get the full experience. The best part is that since everything you do is recording on the protocol layer, you take all your data and followers with you to every app you play with.
