Phones have stoped evolving.

There are almost no new samrtphones made in the last year that have sd card. The prices for mobile storage is at all time low while prices/gb that phone manufacturers offer is higher than what we had in the years before 2020/21. Most new phones that have sd cards are mid range or the ones that are the high end are china only. The only exception is Sony. But there is another problem:

Custom ROMs. They almost used to be the norm. Every other phone had a community of dedicated devs and users whose main thing was customizing and optimizing the experience. Where did those users go? Custom ROMs used to be easy and safe to install. Now you need a permission from the manufacturer, linux experience and God guiding you just to unlock the bootloader. And even if you can unlock the bootloader there are either no ROMs developped or the ones that are available die after few months because the sole maintainer decided that this is isn't for him anymore. What happened?

Now everything is proprietary. The most open mobile platform that is worth using is the Google Pixel. Excuse me? Google? The data harvester? YES, GOOGLE. That google that runs most of the internet and controls almost all data on the internet. And their phones are not even that good. Their battery isn't that longlasting, the phones is always hot for some reason.

Oh and last but not least. The headphone jack. C'mon guys. Are you really that greedy? Everybody already has bluetooth headphones and like thcomfort of them. I have one too and use them more than my wired headphones. Can we stop with this? Can we have the headphone jack back?

Fuck all phone manufacturers. There are no good phones anymore.

You misspelled DEW.

Never worked for me thus far. bunker + login doesn't do anything. (GrapheneOS, Pixel 9)

Can confirm that Jack Kruse is a great source for unconventual insights into longevity and health.

CPU product names are getting more rediculous.

Read a Mastodon post of a person I used to know years ago. Of course their issues with blood pressure, heart palpitations and arrythmia come from a noisy stressful environment and not from being morbidly obese and still lining up for COVID clotshot boosters.

Sure sure.

90s where the best of times.

I disabled all of them. I can update my software manually and most will nag anways if they’re running and there’s a new release available.

I’m not so sure I’ll be sticking with nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 as my podcast client for long. The app seems less intuitive than Pocketcasts and it keeps on annoying me with the Fountain Rewind ad (a feature I don’t give a fuck about) no matter how often I tap on it and not being able to use a custodial wallet to use any of its payment features is a dealbreaker.

It’s also missing some features I’ve gotten to rely on over the years of listening to podcasts:

* No way of cutting silences from audio

* Speed settings don’t seem to work properly (2,25x in Fountain isn’t even close to 1.75x in Pocketcasts)

* I don’t want a Fountain account just be able to use premium features

* No listening statistics (see attachment)

* The app being proprietary

Any alternatives for nostr-compatible podcast apps?

I love the transcription and clip features though.

Not hating on their product. It seems I might just not be the target audience.

* No web client is a bummer as well

I have a cash reserve of several thousand Euros and I'll probably dump it all into Bitcoin and just keep some of it for emergencies.

It just keeps on losing value.

So the US is kneecapping itself just like the Germans did?

At some point I’ll just start to bill the client for the cumbersome task accounting procedure they’re forcing me through.

I hate the fiat world of work.
