“about two-thirds of Americans say abortion should generally be legal, but only about a quarter say it should always be legal and only about 1 in 10 say it should always be illegal”
Abortion restrictions are Republicans putting the state between you and your doctor, legislating that the government gets to decide whether you may or may not receive medical care. It won’t stop with abortion. They won’t stop with gender-affirming care.
Abortion is a medical privacy issue.

People still voting for Republicans should pay more attention to the fact that the Republicans tried everything to prevent insulin prices from being capped.
Certainly looks like treating diabetes and keeping those individuals alive was, for Republicans, only worthwhile and therefore acceptable if the patient’s income level justified treatment (the expense) for the government (Republicans).

“Texas judge ruled Friday the state’s #abortion ban has proven too restrictive for women with serious pregnancy complications and must allow exceptions without doctors fearing the threat of criminal charges.
The ruling was the first to undercut Texas’ law since it took effect in 2022 and delivers a major victory to abortion rights supporters, who see the case as a potential blueprint to weaken restrictions elsewhere that Republican-led states have rushed to implement.”
“Twenty-five million women of childbearing age now live in states where the law makes abortions harder to get than they were before the ruling.
Decisions about the law are largely in the hands of state lawmakers and courts. Most Republican-led states have restricted abortion. Fourteen ban abortion in most cases at any point in pregnancy.”
Abortion is healthcare. Medical privacy matters. Run on abortion rights.

“But the hotelier was incensed by the bill banning abortions after six weeks, saying that was too early and that many women do not even know they are pregnant at that stage.
The abortion restrictions have rattled other donors. Metals magnate and Republican donor Andy Sabin, for example, soured on DeSantis and threw his support behind Senator Tim Scott in part due to the abortion issue.”
Don’t shy away from it, Dem candidates, run on abortion rights.

“This is hardly Patron’s first brush with the law. In 2022, he was convicted of wilful promotion of hatred for a video he made where he called for Jewish people to be removed from Canada. He was also convicted of assault after attacking two women in Regina in 2019 who refused to accept a ride home from him.”

“With its reminder that Trump and his co-conspirators wanted to invoke the Insurrection Act on Jan. 6 against any protesters, the indictment brought us back to the awful hours when the coup attempt was in motion. Here is an essay on how Jan. 6 fits into the history of coups. which usually involve a broad section of elites. For every person bashing heads outside there are others in suits or uniforms directing the action.” - Ruth Ben-Ghiat
