Cool, we don't have those where I come from!

Lovely! What's that animal on the first pic? A coyote?

Winter took its toll on the bike: new pivot bearing installed! Suspension receives some maintenance as well.

#springstr is here

Almost forgot the most important vacation post: #animalstr of Tuscany!

I'm sure there's a modern bike out there that checks all of your boxes if you look hard enough. There's plenty of brands offering 27.5" hardtails in XS (or even 2XS) sizes with quality gear. Both from local stores (Trek, Liv...) or online (Canyon...). If you need any hints write me a dm - I'd be glad to help.

All that said, it's not about the bike you ride, it's the fun you have riding it. And you can certainly have fun on an old clunker if that's your thing! :)

Congratulations on your new fork! However I'd say there's little point in buying upgrades for a bike of that age. I totally get the "trusty old bike" argument, but newer generations of mtb's are waaaaaaay more capable than any bike of 20 years ago. I'm not trying to diss your ride, just that maybe instead of trying to upgrade the old one, think about getting a new start.

It's not about getting "faster" on your trails. Newer bikes have much better geometry (comfier riding position and easier to ride), have better gear (tyres with way more grip, gears that are easier to set up, better brakes which are easier on your arms, etc) and are generaly easier to maintain and also upgrade. It's a whole new world really. And I know what I'm talking about - I rode all those bikes and everything in between :D

Final vacation day was reserved for sightseeing in Massa Marittima

After yesterdays mud, today we returned to the coast. Due to more gravel in the soil the grip was perfect!

Plenty of "that-wine-bottle-thingy-trees" around here:

Winters in Tuscany are warm and sunny, they said...

After five riding days on Elba island we moved our camp to mainland Tuscany. Today we went sightseeing in the city of Siena:

Spent a day in the clouds

It's a winter vacation trip. One more day on Elba, then a couple of riding days on mainland, after that we're heading home.

Landscapes really are awesome here - Isola d'Elba, Italy! Today we did Trincerone, Mezza strega -> Scalette and Buca del Bandito trails, all to the east of Portoferraio bay, you can look them up on trailforks.
