It makes sense to me that lightning becomes a decentralised version of ACH but for bigger payments or settling between bigger players (the future of interbank transfers).

While Cashu is used for all the day to day spending of everyday people.

Then on-chain is mostly for governments, rebels, wealthy folks, and banks.

People are finally catching on!

Fuck seed oils.

What was he doing to not play along? Another whistleblower silenced?

That would make some sense but the shooting looked well prepared.

Either professional or someone who planned for a while.

Anyone that would hire a professional can afford not to be fucked but insurance.

And most of the time when it’s a distraught person they don’t care about being caught. This guy seems to be working hard to get away with it.

That was my thought to but the hit looked pretty professional.

Might it not be power politics getting kinetic?

Just so bizarre.

Anyone got a sense of why the CEO of United Healthcare was assassinated?

I’m no fan of pharma, but it’s usually not the good guys doing the assassinating

Is there anyone who is *strongly* interested in being an early round beta reader for my sci fi manuscript?

Near-future sci-fi, crime/thriller/cyberpunk. A blend of action and multi-character depth, and moral analysis. The action is key and all, but alpha readers thus far cried at the character aspects; that's what hit them hard enough to care how they would engage with the action.

Strict Requirements for first-stage beta readers:

-I need to know/trust you personally, either in person or very well online with high reputation, to the point that I'd send an unfinished manuscript to you. There's no strict requirements, but if you know, you know.

-You like sci fi and/or fantasy books, and would be happy to read and offer objective (even brutal) feedback on a sci-fi action/crime thriller novel within the next month or two.

-You can comment or DM, for privacy sake.

That's a small group, but I'm putting it here on Nostr first for what I consider my pre-beta or readers. I will then expand 10x on Twitter and elsewhere for my full beta readers.

Meanwhile, I'm in the early revision stage. Manuscripts won't be sent out immediately. I'm still doing revisions and working with alpha readers, but I'm at the stage where I can start *planning* for the next step to see who might be interested to be early beta readers. Nostr folks get the exclusive early notice here.

I do tend to move pretty fast, though.

All pre-beta readers that provide meaningful input would be mentioned in the acknowledgement section, if the book were to be published, which of course I cannot guarantee will happen. I will only publish good books, one way or another.

But like, the alpha readers do like it. ;)

Please! I’d love to read and help 🙋‍♂️

Totally fair. Would you like your own npub to subscribe to?

That way any future alerts could publish there too. I’ve been thinking of adding weather and ux index as well so people can plan runs or activities with their kids.

Oh interest so generate an npub per use and publish to it?

How would you ensure you get alerted and it doesn’t get lost in your feed?

Just built a little air quality alert tool.

You pick a location, get daily forecast or an alert if the forecast will go above a threshold you set.

It currently sends text and email alerts.

Would anyone want me to add Nostr DMs as a delivery mechanism for their use?

This is amazing high quality, high signal, low view count podcast about bringing about abundance in the world by leaning into capitalism.

Seems right up this community’s alley!

Love the tagline: “prosperity is energy intensive”

Nah the main goal is that anyone can zap anything on Nostr even if they are not on Nostr. They just need a lightning wallet. I got the idea from when I was at the nostr:npub1yfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9shwv6vg show in Nashville that was being live streamed on nostr:npub1h8gzew8am6cezuq7cpjgudldra40hgnruqrqlsrqnxnzs5wjtczqztps02. In order to zap the stream to get my comment on the board and in the stream chat, I had to open the live stream on my phone and go through the whole zap flow. With my tool, people can simply display a QR code of the LNURL for the event anywhere and people can zap comments just by scanning the QR code with a lightning wallet. I’ve tried explaining this many times, but I think a lot of people still don’t get it.

That would make many monetized social interactions much easier 🤔

Nice Sam, hell yeah 🤙

On the bright side, Bitcoin having a relatively stable price means it’s actually a good store of value…

The best stores of value are stable with upside so I’d say Bitcoin is maturing into that role. Which means more folks with lower risk profiles will eventually pile in.

Just seems like day to day we’re in that old adage of “a watched pot never boils” but progress is being made on all fronts.

On nostr:npub1dx5q2el8nd4eh3eg9t2e25fd7zuqg7zxz6ldkc3uzgh66ss2yc6st288sj you can lookup anyone by npub and send them a payment. I think it DMs them nuts instead of zapping them though.

I made a service called LNURL Zap which gives every Nostr event a lightning address. An anonymous zap is sent when paying it. So if you send a lightning payment to @lnurlzqp.com, an anonymous zap will be sent to the person who owns that npub.

https://github.com/SamSamskies/lnurlzap

That’s cool. Excuse my ignorance: If each event has a lighting address how does the service ensure the event author can receive that money?

Is there a zap only client? Just find someone by npub and zap any amount?

This is particularly difficult on iOS because of the AppStore I think.
